We need the car in the last week of May. We will pick up the car from MCO from Sunday to Sunday. We need a full size.

Also, We will have 3 adults and 2 children in car seats, is Full size a good size for us?

Thanks for your help!

Amy

I am renting from Hertz for $149 a week. That is using our AAA discount. This is for a full size car. Using Hertz is quick and easy even though it is off site.

My advice is to check everyday; rates fluctuate so much even as your trip gets closer.

IMHO, stick with onsite rentals like: Avis, National, Alamo, Budget, Dollar, and L&M...this is MHO only as I do not want to get my luggage and then lug it onto a shuttle and then lug it off (my kids/car seats too!) and then get my car. I'd rather get my luggage and walk to my rental car and then I'm off; IMHO, of course.

I prefer National but would go with Alamo (their sister company) or Dollar if the price was right.

I'm paying $111 TOTAL (Disney Club discount and coupon) for a week Full size (Nov/Dec). At first it was over $200 and then it came down several times before I got that great rate.

Some companies, if you join their club (National = Emerald Club) you can even skip the counter. I belong to this club and it's heavenly! I go pick my own car and I'm off! No counter or shuttle.

Right now, it is $147 total for a Full size at National but that's with the Disney Club discounts. It's $166 total with the Entertainment book. Discounts available are Disney Club, Entertainment book, a wholesale club store like BJ's even Walmart and Vacation Outlet's website have discounts you can use!

Regarding a Full size being big enough for 3 adults and 2 kids with car seats and their luggage, it will certainly be tight but possibly doable. We are a family of 4 with 2 car seats and at least 4 suitcases and the worst part is getting to the hotel and to the airport with the luggage. Once you get that out, the car is more comfortable. It will be tight though. You may want to check with Dollar for a mini-van as they usually have the best minivan prices.

Good luck!

I am driving out of the lot at Hertz within 10 mins of stepping on the shuttle bus at MCO.

There is no reason to limit yourself to onsite agencies. Hertz is a reputable company. I haven't seen many negative posts for rentals here either.

It took us longer with Emerald Aisle at National at MCO then it did with Hertz.

IMHO, I feel bad for the third adult. Where will they sit in a full size car? Crammed between the two car seats? Sounds like you'd be better off with a mini-van - more room for people - and people's stuff, too. I thought we could get away with a full size until we actually TRIED it here at home with a Buick Regal.

Regarding minivan, I just checked for you and Dollar was VERY expensive for a week with a minivan. It was well over $300. before taxes even!

Then I checked National and it's $229 plus tax.

Then I checked Alamo and they are running a promo of $199 plus tax and I plugged in the last week in May (Sat - Sat) and the grand total was $253. That's not too bad at all!

Good luck with your decision!

I am glad I booked months ago for our July trip. I got a full size car from National for 9 days for total $232 (incl taxes). I have checked today for better rates and got the following base rates (taxes not incl): Dollar 284, National 214, Alamo 256, Budget 199.

What price differences!
