I am by no means an expert. We stayed at AKL this past March and it was our first and only time there. That said...there are two wings that have standard view rooms at AKL...one is the Giraffe Trail and one is the Ostrich Trail. These two wings flank the front facade of AKL, one to the left and one to the right. The lobby is in the middle.
So, on the Giraffe Trail, if your room faces the front of the hotel, standard view, and on the other side of the hall, it's a pool view room. So, you will be closer to the pool, with access to an elevator inside that wing that will allow you entrance to the pool closest to the hot tub side. You will also be closer to the bus stops. There is an emergency exit stairwell that lets you out right around the corner from the bus stops. You can also use your card to open the door from the outside when returning to your room. Very convenient. We stayed on the Giraffe Trail in March, so this comes from personal experience. It was a blessing to be able to take that short cut to our room several nights after so much park walking...especially when DH was carrying a sleeping DS6!

Our room was pool view, so I have no info on noise coming from the buses, etc. or views from that side.
On the Ostrich Trail, the other side of the hall are savannah view rooms facing the Sunset Savannah, I believe. I think I have read that there are some windows in the hallway that face out to the savannah, so you could see the animals as you were walking down to your room. But I am not sure about this.
I would suggest checking out the JAMBO thread for more info and if you can't find what you are looking for there, post your question on that thread.
Hope this helps!
