What is a DVC tour like?

I became a DVC owner (BWV) last May. But I did so totally sight unseen, after recommendation of a friend and viewing the video and book. I've never stayed on-site either, so the whole experience will be new to me. I'm pretty excited!

My first DVC trip is coming up in April. I'm thinking about taking out a little time to go on the tour I never had! I'm just wondering how long a tour might last, and also what I would get to see. We will stay at OKW, so I'd at least like to see my home resort of BWV. Would I also get to see VWL, or does a tour basically stay in the home resort being offered?

Thanks for any info you have! †

The official tours are all at BWV. They have VWL models set up there. Much of the tour is done as a virtual tour on the computer.

Members can take a self tour at VWL- just go to the DVC kiosk in the WL lobby and they will direct you to the rooms which are open. There is a CM there to answer questions.

There is no tour at OKW any longer, but CM's will usually provide a glimpse of room when available.
Enjoy!

Our tour was the most laid back sales experience of our lives. DW and I had been looking at timeshares for a few years trying to find the right fit. The amazing thing was that while other timeshares took up about 2-3 hours of our time and gave us extreme pressure to buy right there, our guide, Humburto Santos, was extremely polite and respectful of our time and never pressured us once.

All in all, it took about an hour to complete the tour. This included the explanation of the DVC point system, and a tour of the rooms. We also discussed fincancing.

Of course, we were there for about 2 hours because we decided to by right on the spot!

Sure looking forward to our first trip home in August.

Since you are already a member, this won't really apply to you. However, having been on other "Time-Share" tours before, we were surprised how laid back and low pressure our tour was. We could take as much time as we wanted, and didn't have to decide that day, although we did.

Would you recommend actually going to Florida to one of the resorts to take the tour or is the video and info I'm waiting to receive enough? Then again, it would be a great excuse to get away with DH for a few days!!!

Painless - rewarding

Nobody mentioned anything about the big, sweaty, cigar smoking, overweight guy in the loud polyester suit and small mouse ears telling you your a fool for not buying and your wasting your money every year on stupid vacations.

Oops. I was'nt suppose to say anything or they will take away 50 points. ;)
