What is a dedicated room?

My in-laws just booked a 2 br for 5/10 at SSR and was told the room was dedicated. Of course she has no idea what that means, so I'm thinking it is a DVC only room vs. paying room. I'm I correct about this?

Also she requested a room on the first floor, pool view in the grandstand section, do you think it will be hard to get those options? I know when we've stayed at other resorts and asked to stay in a specific building they were able to give us what we wanted.

A dedicated 2 bedroom has a queen bed and sleeper sofa in the second bedroom. There is only one entry door to the room. A 2 bedroom that is not "dedicated" is a 1 bedroom connected to a studio with each side having an entry door and there is a door connecting the 2 rooms that can be closed and locked.

A dedicated has 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, it is a lockoff (one bedroom + studio) that has the queen and sleeper sofa. (Except there are some dedicated with queen/sofa at BCV because the room design could not accomodate 2 queens. Oops!)

As the previous poster mentioned, there is a single main entrance to a dedicated 2 bedroom.

There is usually additional closet space in a dedicated, as there is no kitchenette in the 2nd bedroom.

A dedicated 2 bedroom villa has only one entrance into the villa & depending upon resort its 2nd bedroom may have 2 queen beds or Q-bed & pullout sofa. Also in a dedicated villa 2nd bedroom will not have kitchenette area(micro/sink/mini fridge/coffemaker) but lock-off 2 bedroom villa will have this feature as well as a separate exterior entry door because it is a true studio villa connected to a 1 bedroom villa via an interior connecting door into the living room area of the 1 bedroom villa side of the unit. Some do prefer a lock-off villa over a dedicated 2bedroom villa when travelling with extended family for the convenience of second entry door & kitchenette in 2nd bedroom especially if some guests will be sleeping in living room.

Requests are not guaranteed; they will attempt to honor requests as best they can based upon availability, etc.

Hope this helps :goodvibes

yes I do, if you look at a map of SSR, available on this site under Resort information, you will see that there is not a true direct view of the pool in the Grandstand section due to the location of the buildings and the location of 2 bedroom villas. The Grandstand buildings are basically a U and 4 of the 2 bedrooms face the interior courtyard.

I would decide what is most important, first floor, Grandstand or near the pool and only request one of those.

Asking for all three is really going to limit your chances, there are only 5/ two bedrooms on each floor at SSR and therefore you might not get any of your requests.

I would have her word the request Grandstand, near pool, first floor - there really are no pool "view" rooms that I remember.
