what is a biscuit

On the opposite end, I came from Michigan to the more "Southern" Kansas City (biscuits tend to be more prevelant in Southern US states, as are Grits) and I thought to myself, "What happened to the hole in my bagel here?":lmao:

Where in NY and when? I have lived in New York, Queens and Nassau county, all my life (50+ years :scared1:) and have never heard a cookie referred to as a biscuit. :confused3

Born in Flatbush and raised on the South Shore of Long Island. Biscuits were the plain crisp cookies that Grandma (and all people her age) liked with her tea. ::yes::

He Joyce,

Afgelopen jaar heb ik voor het eerst ook een biscuit geprobeerd. het lijkt op waar wij pasteitjes voor de raqout voor hebben, weinig smaak en een beetje zoutig.

born/raised on the South Shore as well... live on the North Fork now... never heard a cookie called a biscuit... g'ma used to have "social teas" w/her tea (and i LOVE them still!)... biscuits were something we got at kentucky fried chicken (now known as KFC! LOL!) :)

I need to contradict a previous poster - here in the deep south, although biscuits are carbs, gravy is considered a vegetable, as is macaroni and cheese. We wash these meals down with sweet tea, which here is considered a smoothie. We all have an average life expectancy of about 34, though, so watch your biscuits!:)

Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought the gravy was considered a sausage smoothie. :rotfl2:

Oooh, a sausage smoothie - I know what's for dinner tonight! We'll have gravy on it :rotfl:

Amen, Southern Sister!

A truly wonderful biscuit experience is when you bite into it, and it literally melts in your mouth! You don't chew a good biscuit; if you have to chew it--it ain't no good. It's tough, been handled too much. They are eaten at breakfast, with ham, bacon, or sausage with eggs, AND pancakes. Don't forget the honey, jam, or sausage gravy. At dinner, they're a great add-on to a fried chicken dinner, roast beef dinner, ...any dinner that has gravy.:rotfl2: Years ago, a young lady's worth was measured by how "fluffy" her biscuits were. This is serious stuff. A biscuit could make or break your eligibility. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I see you're in Massachusetts, but you shore do sound like a proper southerner!

:cool1: I love me some biscuts!!!

Here we use the buttery kind w/dinner or lunch and we use the dry(er) kind with Strawberries and Cream.......YUMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

They even sell biscuts right next to the strawberries...how convenient I say!!! :thumbsup2

Are there any good biscuits to be had anywhere at WDW?

I thought both the biscuits and the cornbread at the Garden Grill were quite tasty. They were served as sides, and not with gravy ;). Of course, this born and raised southern girl thinks that putting gravy on biscuits is the quickest way to ruin them (although my non-southern DH would not agree). Now putting ham or chicken on them is another story altogether....yum.

I liked the cornbread at Whispering Canyon pretty well (sweet, like I prefer), but I haven't found real southern style biscuits (like both my grandmothers made) on Disney property

I think Trail's End is where my mom had them with sausage gravy.

Not that I've had so far :(

The ones I had at the Ohana breakfast were DELISH

The biscuits with gravy at Shades of Green have me converted to Biscuitism!

We ordered at the Fish & chips stand at Epcot this past week and the dessert choices were a bag of chips or a biscuit (shortbread cookie)...
