What is a 2 Tap Entry

It has been a short while since we have been to WDW and there weren't any 2 Tap Entry points for any of the rides at that time. I keep seeing reference to 2 Tap Entries. Can someone please explain the whole 2nd Tap concept? I totally get the First Tap at the entrance to FastPass now LL, but what is the 2nd Tap about?

As long as I can remember, there was a FP 'tap' point at the entrance to the FP line, and then you tapped again when you were about to enter the attraction. That's been there for awhile. I always thought it was to prevent line jumping by by-passing just the initial 'tap'.
@thanxfornoticin is correct and that's exactly what it's for. Often the standby line runs along side the LL line. The second tap stops guests from hopping from Standby into the LL after the first tap.

I think it's getting a bit more attention right now with G+ reservations, since you can make 'another' reservation after 2 hours, and/or after the 2nd tap of a current G+ attraction. I really hadn't thought about it that much until G+!

Yes, and also because guests are now purchasing ILL$. I would not be impressed if I paid $15 to ride Rise and then saw someone hop the queue after the first tap point and try to access the LL!!

For a quite a while before COVID many attractions stopped using the second tap, especially at a few that adjusted their line structure like Buzz in MK.

They for sure need to do the double system ... we saw people that jumped being forced back through out through the line to rejoin the SB lines. At Universal too.

We also saw three groups jump the line at Jingle Cruise, but the second tap was broken so they made it through, wasn't the only place. They need to be diligent now that we are paying for it and maybe rework a couple of the old lines.

Yeah I am glad they are using both tap points because my daughter lost it when she was little and we were in fast pass line for splash and a man and his daughter ducked under and got in front of us in the fast pass lane. She told on them and they came up with an excuse and the cast member let them ride anyway bumping her from the front row seat she wanted. She held onto that anger for years! Way longer than she should have but she was a strict rule following kid. Now that she is 18 she would throw them some shade but let it go (hopefully). Now that people are paying they really don’t want people getting the same thing for free!

We only saw that happen a few times, but that was also the first week it started. People are probably getting braver now.
Agree they need to have the double tap.
