What Irritates you about DLP?

I am not sure what there is to complain about. We love to eat there and although it is not cheap it is a theme park and the prices for Europe at least are not unreasonable. :grouphug:

I, for one, have nothing to complain about. In three trips we have always been very happy with the quality of our food.

Moreover, nobody complains about its prices?
I do not think the prices are shocking either. As has already been said in this thread the prices are comparable with UK theme parks but the fast food at DLRP is often of a higher standard. :)

Don't worry! :grouphug: There will always be negative experiences, both at DLRP and the US parks ~ but the positives far outweigh any negatives! :yay:

That's so true! And most of the time the negative points are about DLP's customers behavior, and it can be everywhere.
We just expect everything to be perfect at DLP, and sometimes it's not, that's life!
But we wouldn't be there if we didn't love  DLP, and I wouldn't be planning my 11th November annual stay :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I love the food at DLP, it is always one of our highlights of our trips eating at a lovely restaurant like Walt's, and the prices don't shock me as the food is good quality. we have paid just as much at our local restaurants at home which is no where near as special.

What irritates me is that you have to pay extra food tea and coffee making facilities in the hotel rooms - Sequoia Lodge is about £100 per night (room only rate) and so you would have thought that including the tea bags would not break the bank. I stay in quite a lot of hotels (both more and less expensive) and cannot think of another one I've been in in the last 5 years that didn't have tea and coffee in the room.

- The people from the Netherlands at the table next to us during breakfast, changing their child's diaper ON the table instead of going to the restrooms. After that, they dropped the stinky diaper in the trash bin about 5 inches away from me. Lesson learned: always go sit far away from trash bins!

- I can understand why people are irritated by adults don't allowing children in front of them during parades. However, if I camp out for an hour in the freezing cold, other people can do just the same, and hold a good spot. Secondly, if you allow little kid in front of you, mom, dad, grandparents, uncles, aunts, ... will also come in front of you. I HATE that!

- It irritates me when characters in the park only turn to children for pictures. Yes yes, I know, for them the characters are "real" yada yada yada, but I am also a Disney-fan, I paid for my ticket (which is more expensive than theirs anyway ;) ) and I also want my picture taken. Real queues would help this problem, then everyone would just wait for her/ his turn (as happens for Mickey and Minnie)

I know, I am someone that would probably irritate lots of you people, but what can I say? I'm a little kid in an adult body!

I agree 100% Sandra. I too want my moment with the Mouse :goodvibes

I sneek in with DD8 now and stay for the extra shot after sending her off !!!

:rotfl2:

I usually avoid having my pic taken with the characters for just this reason. You do feel a bit ridiculous queuing with the little 'uns. However this visit I saw the Beast and was determined I was going to have my picture taken with him come what may. Felt a bit of a twerp but still, it was worth it.

Fancy changing your kiddie at the breakfast table. How unhygienic?!

During a one week stay in 2002 (I've been back since, but just for day trips, since I want to spend more time in Paris), I had numerous instances of people cutting in front of me. It almost became a game with myself and friends, and at one point there was someone really trying to get in front of two of us at Caseys. I think Rob was 2nd in line, I was 3rd, and we each slapped our hand down on the counter (me on the right, he and the left) so the person wouldn't get past us. It was like "block to the left, and to the right!" The person finally gave up and left.

That wasn't the only instance, but a couple of other times I wasn't paying attention and someone got in front of me without my noticing.

I don't find as much rudeness in Paris as at the parks!

At Disneyland, we save a space for our kids to see the fireworks or the parade, and often, we will let other little kids in to be able to see. I haven't ever had the experience where the other kids' parents/families think that it's an open invitation for *them* to horn in.

Oh man, this is gonna have to be something I have to learn to say in French. So, how do you say, "Hey, don't be a buttinski?"

In general, my observation at Disneyland has been that the more crowded the park gets, the ruder/pushier the people tend to be. I remember being stuck in a parade crowd once when a couple decided to change their baby right there--holding the child aloft in the air! It was unbelievable that someone would do that.

When we've gone to WDW, I have felt that the crowds have been pushier there. I know that I am always relieved to come 'home' to the little park in Anaheim.

I don't know how we'll cope with the smoking. It's pretty rare in Disneyland and we think it smells awful.

The one thing that I do see quite a bit at Disneyland are the groups who send a 'scout' into a line, and then a bunch of people will cut through the line to get to 'their space' that is being held by one person! That little trick grates me to no end.

I have seen that happen at for Dumbo, which is really annoying as it is such a slow loader that these extra people really do make a difference.
If its a mum and a little child I want mind as the child may of needed the toilet or something, its just a whole family doing it that bugs me.

Absolutely. I wouldn't blink at a mother/child getting back into line (been there, done that), but I'm thinking of the times where we've been in line and five, six, or seven people push past to get to their placeholder, and there might not even be a child among them!

I have seen teenagers at Great America (a coaster park near my home) simply push up through the line as if they're moving up to meet someone far ahead in the line, but actually, they simply go as far as they can until somebody stops them...but they shave a half hour or so off the wait. Great America, btw, has signs that say if you get out of line, you have to start over again and there's no line cutting...apparently this has been an even more regular problem in the past!

We had real problems during my last visit when everyone was gathering for the parades - i'm still working on my trippie so I'll put the details in there but the times of the parades are well posted so everyone should know what time they are going off. Why leave it so late then barge in front of those who've had the sense to find a spot early? It really annoys me

I think that's a universal thing. Some people have an attitude of entitlement, meaning that *they* don't need to queue up for awhile to find a choice spot to watch parades or fireworks (but it can extend into many other things as well).

We were at a local, free Christmas event several years ago, had gotten there in plenty of time for a good space, and just before the event started, a woman showed up with two little girls. She sat down in the space just next to us, which wasn't much, but then proceeded to 'creep' her way into our space. Then, she saw some other folks she knew, and waved them over! So, then it got to pushing into our space and we ended up being really cramped and crabby.

The next year, the very same woman showed up at about the same time, and proceeded to plant herself right down by us, and I spoke up, "No, you can't sit here. You did that last year and ended up taking up half our space. Move someplace else. If you want a good spot, show up like the rest of us did." Her reply was an incredulous, "I can't believe you're so rude!" and then she moved off.

There are toilets next to Pantom Manor so there is no excuse for that kind of behaviour - disgusting!

Smoking is my biggest peeve - a few times when we've been waiting for a parade or a show someone has sparked up a cigarette, even though people are all close together and there are lots of babies and children around. I can't wait for the no smoking policy to take effect.

Is there going to be a smoking policy going into place? I hear that most people in France actually support a ban of smoking in restaurants, despite the image that everyone in France smokes.

My other peave is people not observing where a line starts and trying to cut in.

:stir: :stir: One other thing that really annoys me is the dreaded 'single person discount'. I had to find an extra £160 on the cost of a 3 night stay because I'm going on my own. It's that extra cost that means I can only go once in a blue moon :furious:

I've never understood the logic for that. Every other hotel in France charges by the room, not by the person. Really, you're saving them money by only you being there as you'll use half the water and half the electricity and take up half the room in the breakfast room.

I do think it's really unfair and I can't see the justification for the extra charge.

Another vote for rude guests. When we went last year my middle son, who was 4 at the time, was standing patiently waiting for Minnie to come round and sign his book. (She was working her way along the line) when this Dutch woman barged through and literally shoved him out of the way and thrust her book in Minnie's face. My son went flying and landed on the floor. He was in tears, I was in tears and this woman just looked at us as if we were dirt. The CM with Minnie was so astounded she helped me pick DS up and bought him through the barrier for a cuddle with Minnie. My husband was beyond livid when I told him (he was standing elsewhere) if it had been in the UK he would have arrested her for assault. That evil witch ruined our day for us and very nearly put me off ever going back to DLP again. I can't believe that there are people like that, or that she wasn't bodily picked up by the cast members and booted out of the park!

ALL the english park maps were gone. Why weren't they stocked up again?

we looked at the rows and rows of park maps and every other language but English.

Ended up taking the French map.
