What inspired your childrens names?

I voted for heard it somewhere.
Cameron was named after Cam Neely, former Boston Bruin.
Colton was named after(well,not really after) a kid on the Jenny Jones show. I was watching it once and it was about obese kids. One of the kids was named Colton and I immediately fell in love with the name.

I'm Dana because it was easy. I'm serious. My mother has an exotic name that everyone messed up. She got tired of it. Dana, four letters, easy to pronounce, easy to spell, she loved it.

For us the middle names are family names, gives them a connection to the past. I was adamant about this.
My mn is my Mom's maternal grandmothers, my brother's mn are after each grandfather. My husband has the same first name as his Dad and his mn was after a close family friend. His brothers are named after grandfathers and an uncle who died in WWII.

My Mom had an odd first name, as did my Grandma, but my mom's maiden name was Lindsey, so as early as I can recall, I had decided when I had a daughter her middle name would be Lindsey..and we have Julia Lindsey.
Julia is just a name that we love so much, sweet, classic, feminine.

My son Matthew-first name just because, middle name James after my DH and FIL.

When I was pregnant with dd, my ex and I were looking for names and I got out my family genealogy (back to the 1600's on my mom's side.) We found two names in the geneaology that we liked--Samantha and Caitlin. Unfortunately, my ex's family dog's name was Samantha so we went with Caitlin. Her middle name is Elizabeth--that's my mom's middle name and was Mom's grandmother's middle name. I liked that it skipped a generation every time.

Now Caitlin's a popular name and dd hates it. But at the time, she was the only one and everyone always tries to spell it Katelyn.

Luke was named after my French grandfather, Luc.

Drew was a compromise -- I wanted Jack, after my brother, DH wanted Maverick ( after the Marlboro Man, apparently ), neither liked the other's choices, so we compromised on Drew, a name both of us could live with.

John Donald - My 2 Grandfathers' names
Shane Peter - The greatest cowboy movie ever made and the Apostle who always screwed up, but loved Jesus the most.

My older DD, is Jordan Marcia.

(We always knew her name would be Jordan boy or girl WAY before we were even married). Her middle name, Marcia, was my mom's name who died when I was 17.

The younger DD is Jaylin Rose.

My husband's name is Jason so it is close to his name. He actually found it in a baby book. The middle name is after me (my name is Rosemary). So, she was name for both of us.

Being that both girls' names start with "J" it does get confusing at times. ......

My son's name is Garrett. I liked Jared at first, but we were watching a football game and Garrett was the last name of one of the players. We didn't name him after this guy, just liked the way it sounded.

His middle name is H. Just the letter. The H is for DH's grandfather whose name is Hobert. We didn't want to name him Hobert, so we settled on H. My DH middle name is just a letter also.

DH's grandparents are celebrating 60th anniv tomorrow.

DD- When I was pregnant I had a dream that I had a daughter named Maddie. DH liked it because he liked the show Moonlighting and Cybel Shephard's name on the show was Maddie. At the time their was not a lot of Maddies and not sure if it would be a name she would want when she was an adult so we named her Madeline and call her Maddie. Her middle name Jennifer was after a close family friend of my DH who was killed in an auto accident when he was in high school.

DS- Kirby after Kirby Puckett, DH all time favorite baseball player and Douglas after my DH

Well, I don't have any children but my sister found my nephews name in a baby book. His name is Kaden.

I was watching Lifetime Intimate Portrait of Kelly Preston. They showed a clip from Jerry Maguire and her characters name was Avery. I LOVED it right away! I told DH and he said he liked it.

MIL came up with Elizabeth. We both liked it and it sounded good with the first and last name so we went with it.

Jamie Denae - DD11 - I have always liked the name Jamie, it is also the name of my favorite brother, and James is my exH middle name - Denae - my sister's name is Renee and my other sister used the name for a middle name for her daughter with a different spelling and I liked it, she said I could only use it if I spelled it different, lol.

Heather Michelle - DD10 - well, I wanted to name her "Heaven Leigh Brook" but NOBODY liked that, so I named her Heather after my neice and Michelle is my middle name.

I fully believe that children are given the names to fit them. Jamie is a tomboy and Heather is a girly girl.

My DD is named for Disney princesses. Her name is Isabelle Rose...we call her Belle from Beauty and the Beast and her middle name is for Briar Rose from Sleeping Beauty.

My DS has my husband's middle name, Anthony. His middle name is Ryan, and I can't remember why I picked that.

Anthony Jacob- Wanted Jacob as it was my dad's fathers name and I loved it! Just wasn't sure of it being a first name so... I decided that since I come from a racing family I would make sure his initials were A.J.F. after THE A.J. Foyt. Thought Anthony went well with Jacob.
Justin Thomas- Justin after a "deadhead" friend of mine I didn't get to see too often, Thomas after his father.
Kenneth Patrick Jr.- after his father.
