What if you already have a free dinning reservation and you are just booked a standard room. Then you want to upgrade to preferred. Can you wait to do it until closer to your trip or should you do it now?

Thanks for any info.

It's best to do it right away. But in order to upgrade your room, there has to be availability under the free dining promo for that particular resort/room type. Also, if your promo has expired, you will most likely have to have Guest Services check availability and make the change as a regular reservation CM won't have access to that information.

Promotions like free dining are used to fill up rooms. If there are sufficient rooms (in certain categories) already booked, then you cannot switch your reservation.

Also, after a promotion, such as the free dining, has expired, a CM at CRO cannot see if there are any remaining available rooms and if they can change it. If you want to do that, you need to ask to be transferred to guest services, once you call the standard booking number.

The closer you wait until you arrive, the less chance then have of changing it.

If you upgrade at arrival, the front desk has no choice but to close out your existing reservation and you lose free dining, and you pay full rack rate for the room.
