What if you don't make your PS?

Can you call and tell them you will not make it??? I hate leaving a spot unused for someone.... :Pinkbounc

I don't now if that frees up a PS for someone else, but I do know that it's very thoughtful of you. Thank you!

UG says they don't care if you don't show up- there's always so many people waiting anyway. It's not an issue since you don't actually have a reserved table.

I always call and cancel. At least that way if someone else calls hoping for a last minute PS, they have a better chance of getting one if I take the time to release mine.

We always cancel, it is very easy since you can drop by guest relations, the actual restaurant or just pick up the nearest payphone or resort phone.

Exactly. We always call and cancel.

I think it is common courtesy to call and cancel, especially in busy times of year.

On the other hand, it leaves a spot opened for walk ins who may not frequent Disney message boards and plan 90 days out.

But if you call and cancel it leaves a spot for either walk ins or folks who call for a last-minute PS, so everybody benefits.

It leaves a spot anyway because you have to check in prior to your seating time. During most months, 30% of the PS's go unfullfilled, which is why walking up is very doable. During the summer, July, in particular, only 10% are no shows.

But if you call and cancel, then they know absolutely you are not coming. It frees up a PS slot for another family who decides to call Disney Dining rather than walk from restaurant to restaurant hoping to get in somewhere. And it helps the restaurant determine whether they can accommodate walkups or not since they have a better idea how many people who made PSs are actually going to turn up.

If you just don't show, they don't know if you're just running late or not going to turn up at all. They will only accept so many PSs so if they are maxed out on PSs, while yours is still on the books they will not accept another for the same or a close time slot. If some folks with PSs never turn up that evening, yes there will be empty tables for walk ups but the folks who call hoping to get a last-minute PS for that evening will be told there are no PSs available.

It's polite to cancel. You can call, go to guest services in your resort, in any park or go to the podium at any restaurant. They're all in the same computer system.

I try to call and cancel if I can, just because it's the courteous thing to do. But if you don't know until the last minute that you won't be keeping the PS, don't feel bad that you can't call. :)

What about showing up early? say an hour or so? will they turn you away, or let you wait then?
