What if you don't get your requested room?

Hate to be a downer but...we have never gotten our requested room. We still had a great hotel stay. IMO there really are no bad rooms at WDW!

That's us too. When I booked CBR for bounceback for next year, the CM asked if we had a building preference. I just laughed. I said sure, something not preferred near the old port. She noted it and asked why I laughed, and I said, cause they are not going to give it to me. But that is fine. We were in the furthest building this last trip, and it was all good. We had no expectiations.

I didnt get my request either but had a fantastic room at AKL. I wanted Arusha savannah Zebra Trail and got Kudu trail on Arusha. The really cool thing was I had to cross the rope bridge every day to get to the lounge. The view was fantastic and the giraffes were right under out balcony all the time. Sooo you never know what luck you will have.

The reality is that until websites like this came about, people didn't have huge expectations and didn't know to request specific room numbers or buildings.

For some of us, rooms which others consider the 'worst' rooms are our favourite rooms. I have had the CMs at SSR insist that I didn't want a certain room because it was so far from the main buildings; in fact that was my preference.

The reality is that only one family at a time can occupy each room, and there are only so many 'perfect' rooms available. Just find something to enjoy about the room you have, and don't let it have a negative impact on your trip. If you are absolutely unable to take the room due to some need, you can always request something else, but may need to move during your stay instead of receiving that room on the day of check in.

On our last trip to POR I agonized over whether I would prefer AB rooms or Mansion rooms. I looked at tons of photos. I studied maps. I decided I liked the look of the rooms in the Mansions, but the scenery in AB.

It was a tough decision, but I requested AB, and asked for specific buildings.

When I came to check in, there were no AB rooms left, and we were in the Mansions! I asked politely if we could be switched, but we needed connecting rooms and there were none available. The CM at the desk did point out that it was a good location, but I was bummed.

Well, moral of the story is - we LOVED the room and we LOVED the location! We were in Magnolia Terrace, and it was beautiful at night. We were close to everything and very happy.

I think from now on I am going to avoid all the unnecessary stress, and just leave it up to the CMs! That's what I do at every other hotel I stay at after all - why should it be different at WDW.
