My friend and I are disorganized to say the least. I bought her ticket in December, so it's the old park hopper, not the MYW. I'm just buying mine now, so I'll have the MYW. I know that the MYW tickets can be replaced if lost, since they are tracked by fingerprint, but what about the old park hoppers?

i have no idea about the old hoppers, but I can tell you that MYW tickets are NOT tracked by fingerprint. The think they do with the fingers is a biometric scan, which measures your fingers and their size and shape, or something like that. They only do that to make sure there's only one person per ticket. There's no fingerprinting going on! I'm told you should photocopy the back of your MYW tix, or at least write down all the numbers, because THAT'S how they're really tracked and that's the info you'll need to get a replacement.

You need to make photocopies of your tickets before you go. I usually have three, just in case - one in my carry-on, one in my checked luggage, and one lefted at home with a trusted friend.

You probably don't need to get that far, but an ounce of prevention...

A Photocopy of your tickets is the best way to prevent competely losing your tickets.

What they really need is the codes listed on the bottom of the ticket.

It'll look something like:

Tr 22 [BLACK BOX] WDW:030 05/05/05 921

FYI, the ticket above does not exsist :p nor does the location it says to be printed, haha.

This is what we tell guests who buy tickets (I work for The Disney Store). They are handed a receipt and they are handed an activation receipt. I, personally, always staple the two together. We always inform them to keep the tickets separate from the receipts because if you lose the tickets, you at least have proof that you did have them. We tell them that in the event that a ticket is lost or stolen, WDW requires the activation receipt in order to reissue new tickets. The sales receipt (at least the ones from TDS) only show that a ticket was purchased...it doesn't give them any information as far as the activation number, etc. As far as they know, you could have already used that ticket and are trying to get another one....which is why they have required the activation receipt. This allows them to deactivate the old ones and reissue new ones. Now if you're ordering tickets directly from disneyworld.com or by calling, your sales receipt may also be the activation receipt...I don't know. Bear in mind I'm just speaking from the Disney Store side of things because ours sales receipts does NOT have the required information....it's the activation receipt that the guest also receives that is what's needed.
