I have always enjoyed the information I found on these boards and was interested in this thread since we too had this dilemma.
On our third cruise (3 Days on the Wonder) we also planned to not use our rotation dining. We went to the guest relations when we boarded and let them know we would not use our table. They were clear that we could use it or not and didn't take down any additional information. We ate at Palo's all three nights and had breakfast each day and lunch one day from room service, tipping in all cases. We decided not to tip the servers we never used.
