What if the studio didn't work out, then what?

We're going to be renting DVC points to stay at an SSR studio. If we found that the bed/couch arrangement didn't work for our family, would there be anything that the resort could do about it, like try to get us a room at another resort?

The only place they could send you with 2 actual beds is OKW (which is less points). They could not send you to a non-DVC resort because you would need more points plus the transaction fee.

If you think it's going to be an issue, I would just book OKW.

I think if you ar4e considering that, you should stay where ever you can get the configuration you think you need.

That being said, we've stayed in studios countless times, including those at SSR, and I can't imagine how one would not work for your family. The crib will be tight, but it would be anywhere.

If you are renting, the resort can't do anything about it. The transaction is between you and the owner and it would be a difference in points even if there were another room somewhere.

The complication is that you're a renter. You can't make transactions involving the member's points, and I'm not sure that SSR would be willing to move you, and put points back in the member's account, without the member's involvement.

If it were a maintenance issue...say, a pipe broke and the room was flooded, and there were no other rooms at SSR, obviously they'd have to put you somewhere else. But if the problem is that you simply don't like the room or the resort, or the bed arrangement, I don't think they'll be able to do much for you.

Unless having a view of DTD, or having a somewhat shorter walk to DTD, is of great importance to you, I'd recommend that you rent at OKW instead. Except for the theming and the closeness to DTD, OKW and SSR are not that different. Both have only bus service to the parks, both have boat service to DTD, both are similar distances to the theme park, etc.

This is an example of why renting points from another member isn't for everyone. Don't do it unless you are sure of EVERYTHING. While it's cheaper to rent from an owner, it doesn't give you the same flexibility of going through Disney.

I would recommend considering any private deal of renting points through a member to be a final transaction. Otherwise, you may want to book through CRO for options and flexibility.

I agree. A specific type unit was rented from a member. I would not expect Disney to do anything unless there is a maintenance problem in the studio in which you are placed.

Renters should be aware of what exactly they are renting and receiving prior to renting points for a DVC resort.

We can deal with it, I was just curious about what they could do in a situation like that. They only had availability at SSR the week we are going, otherwise I would prefer an OKW studio.

It sounds like you just started planning too late. With DVC reservations, you can't usually wait until three or four months out unless you don't mind hopping around to different resorts to get all the nights of your stay.

Thank you for that advice.

As others have noted, I don't think anything could be done unless you had points and there was availability elsewhere. Even as an owner, a switch that used more points/or less would need a call to member services for DVC I believe. As far as I know OKW is the only one with the 2 beds in the studio.

Aside from the pullout for sleeping potential issues, we actually like having the couch in the room in the studio rather than the 2 beds. Seems like a little more room during the day.
