What if I need a Chiropractor? How do I go about it?

My neck has a tendency for the vertebrae to slip out of place from time to time. It doesn't hurt as much as it is uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable when sleeping. It would be enough to make me miserable in DW. We are flying in so we wouldn't have a car. I guess Uber? I saw a guy online that says Orlando Resorts chiropractic and spa? Wondering if this was associated with the resorts? Has anyone had to use a chiropractor while in Disney? How did you go about it?

Could you ask your chiro at home if he/she knows anyone in the Orlando area for a reference? Not all chiros are good - I'd even look into the training/licensing regulations in Florida.

From Googling that spa you mentioned - no it doesn't have anything to do with WDW resorts. It is in Celebration, but Disney doesn't have any ties to Celebration anymore, does it?

I agree I'd ask for a reference. Chiropractors can use very different methods for adjustments and can get very different results. Some methods leave me more sore and even give me a headache while others don't have any effect on me at all positive or negative. Worth looking into ahead of time if you think you may need one.

When you ask your Chiro for a recommendation, take a moment to ask them also for an "action plan" if this issue with your neck does happen.

Having a plan beforehand can lessen the stress in the midst of a crisis, and I have found that when I am the most prepared... I never need it! :)

Make sure you have a few things on your phone so you are prepared: the Uber app, all set up and ready to go, and the name(s), phone numbers and addresses of any Chiro(s) you intend to use.

Finally, if your Chiro doesn't know anyone that they are comfortable referring to in Orlando, find a local forum (something local for Orlando residents, or maybe an Orlando Facebook group?) and ask for recommendations from folks who have used a Chiro in the last 6 months or so...

Good luck! :)

Personally... start with a family doctor. Perhaps they will give you a referral.

Then again.... not all doctors believe in chiro.

You might want to research chiro with friends and co-workers. Perhaps they can recommend one.

Those heat packs have been great for me to manage the pain (lower back) over the years.

That website says nothing about same-day appointments or one-time appointments etc. And it says that he's an expert witness, which means he'll NEVER just see you on a quick get-you-adjusted visit without jumping through all the hoops.

I once got SUPER-sick while in Orlando, and tried for a week to get in to see someone. I was unsuccessful. The one guy who DID mention services for tourists/visitors on his website didn't have an opening for 1.5 weeks. While I was still going to be in town then, that didn't help me through the beginning of my illness! It was very irritating. Part of that trip was to Daytona, and my cousin happened to be seeing a chiro at the time, and she begged to let me go in. And I only got in because I used to be a chiro, and she did some sort of industry special with me. But the appointment took 5 hours because I had to jump through the hoops (that chiros NEVER do for friends and family). And then it turns out she does Gonstead, which I personally don't prefer though I have nothing totally against it.

Googling around, honestly, I'd probably try Nightlight Chiropractic. They seem to have fewer hoops to jump through. Though they are in downtown, not Celebration.

If you find someone, I might call in advance and see what you can do to get in quick. Maybe have your basic records in hand, or make sure you go during a time that your chiro back home is in the office so a phone call can be made?

I'd even look into the training/licensing regulations in Florida.

FL is insanely OVER-regulated and difficult to get into for chiros. Though because of that they end up with all the "car accident" types of chiros, because it ends up being so medicalized there.

Honestly OP I would rather find an acupuncturist vs a chiro while in Orlando. They seem to be easier to get in to see, and can help in their own way. :)
