What if dd needs to nap during drill???

I am amazed this thread is still going... But, to continue it.. :goodvibes I will add this..

What kind of an example are you setting with your children if you DON'T go??? I mean in a school firedrill ALL students, faculty, and ANYONE in the building must follow the same procedure... Including anyone with a disability (ex..wheelchair, crutches..etc.) Would you tell your child not to follow this???????

Same thing... :)

Recall that there has been an emergency on the Magic where the drill information was important. (I wasn't there but I read several accounts)

There was a fire on the Magic a while back. It was in the smokestack. The crew was not able to immediately contain the fire. It was in the middle of the night and they sounded the alarm. All passengers had to get up, put on their life vests and report to their muster stations.

The boat was not in immediate danger and nearby ships were notified that there was a problem. The real reason for the alarm was to get all the passengers together so that everyone could be accounted for. They were also ready to evacuate if things took a sudden turn for the worse. I believe everyone was able to return to their rooms within a couple of hours as things were brought under control.

But emergencies can and do happen, even on DCL

Just adding my 2 cents here, retired Navy here, making my first DC April with my wife and one DS soon to be 5. (Am sure it will be a lot better than navy 20 years) Knowing where to muster for the drill in case of worst case is a no brainier here. Whoever has Kid or Kids as the case my be is responsible for getting that child to a muster station and in the boat. While the crew I am sure is going to be very good at what they do in a normal situation, Worst Case having to abandon a ship is by far the most stress any of the crew members will have put on them. The Plain Fact of the Matter is that The Ship is sinking, and that tends to bring out the worst and best of some people. While it may sound Rude (Forgive me in advance) Worst case in abandoning a ship is the last Choice of a Captain and HE or She can not save the Ship It means there’s a very good chance that people have died trying to save the ship and the Captain knows full well that the order to abandon will in all likely hood will cause more death. So 30 mins.or less to get the drill done and knowing where to go on a week long Trip is nothing.

I will NEVER complain about the fire drill.....I was on the Magic when it caught fire. I was very ill, and glad my companions had been through the drill and could guide me to safety. We were held at stations for a long while, and were reportedly within minutes of abandoning ship when the fire crew was finally able to control the fire.

The drill is necessary, customs is necessary......just two activities that are non-negotionable.
