Hello all!

We are planning to visit the wizarding world in late September. We are so excited, but I refuse to do too much research because we want it to be all new to us. But, we are smart enough to know we can't do it without knowing anything.

So, without giving too many details what do I need to know about it before we go such as rides to definitely stay away from with a 4yr old and 65yr old (who is scared of roller coasters) What we should definitely not miss and also How to get the most out of our 1 day trip!

Also my ds has a peanut allergy so any info on restaurants or snack places is appreciated!!

Thanks!!

p.s. we are HUGE Harry Potter fans, so any stores we must visit let me know!

our party consists of my dh and I ds(turns 2 while we are in orlando) dd(4.5) dfil (65) and dmil(55 but 25 at heart)

I'm also a huge HP fan and you guys will LOOOOOVE it! I would advise doing the walk through of Hogwarts for the little ones and anyone wanting to ride the ride should do so early in the morning because the wait times can be extremely long after the park has been opened for a while. The ride has a height requirement. Your FIL may not enjoy it either because it has similar traits of a roller coaster and at times makes you feel as though you are upside down. Your MIL will probably love it and I'd definitely recommend it. It's a ride of a new breed and it's amazing! I would eat at the 3 Broomsticks, they have AMAZING food! Definitely try the Butterbeer of course! Your children should both be able to ride The Flight of the Hippogriff which is a childrens roller coaster. If you guys plan on going into Ollivanders Wand Shop which is a sort of show and then you go into a store after that (can't remember the name of it, but it always has a long line just to get in) you will want to do that early, before the Castle if no one plans on riding the castle. Your FIL will not want to ride The Dragon Challenge as that is a dueling roller coaster. You should definitely visit all of the shops though!!! Ollivanders just gets a really long line fairly early!!! Have a magical time on your trip, it's a one of a kind adventure!!! :)

You cannot take bags (of any kind but fanny packs) on most rides at Universal. They make you wait in line for a locker (free) BEFORE you wait in the line for the actual ride. Don't take a bag if you don't need one, or leave your bags with non-riders.

Two out of the three rides in WW do require lockers.

The rides that require lockers for loose articles are:
Hulk, Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge, Rip Ride Rockit, Mummy and Men in Black.

The rides that don't require lockers:
Spiderman, Ripsaw Falls, Bilge Barges, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Pteranadon Flyers, Flight of the Hippogriff, Poseidan's Fury, Cat in the Hat, One Fish two Fish, Seuss Trolley, Caro-Seuss_el, Storm Force Acceletron, Shrek, Twister, Disaster, Jaws, Simpsons, ET, Terminator.

The craziest part of HP FJ is the locker area. Very small and crowded. The gift shop is the exit of the ride (as usual) and it's very small and crowded. Keep hold of the little ones because it's narrow and jammed packed with people.

Instead of waiting in line at Ollivander's, we bought our wands at the Universal Store in Citywalk. Much less crowded and all the wands were in stock. My boys bought Dumbledores and Snapes' wands. They even had Victor Krum and Cedric Diggory's wands as well.

They only sell the birthday wands in the Wizarding World though.

On our last visit to WWOHP with DH, DS (11), DD(9) and me we walked through Hogswart and then I ducked out of the FJ as I don't do well with motion sickness so I took the bags. Only problem was the comments you get from everyone in the line thinking you have 'broken' the rules. I felt like I should of had a big sign on my back saying "don't worry, I am not riding!!!".

Everything else was wonderful and I would go for the pumpkin fizz over the butterbeers!

Enjoy.

Can't wait to eat at Three Broomsticks!!!! :cool1: How long are people waiting for Three Brooksticks these days? Do you order at the counter and then the staff helps you find a table? Is that how it works there?

That was how it worked in March. We never really waited for a table, they always found one for us immediately.

Can you still have a small fanny pack on these rides?
