Ok everyone, what WDW tips and tricks do you know now that you wish you knew on your first trip?

*I wish I knew about this board! It would have helped with planning so much!
*I wish I knew exactly how important it was to make dinner reservations so far in advance!

Maybe I'll think of more later. What are your's?

I wish I had known enough to stay on property. And I wish I had known better than to go at the end of May...miserable.

I wish I had known that taking a caffiene-o-holic would make getting around MK very difficult!!! Ever seen a jittery 57 year old on Dumbo? Not a pretty sight!

I wish I'd known about buying DVC 10 years ago. And I wish when I found out about it in 2000 that I shouldn't have thought the point prices were too high!!

I wish I would have known more about the Disney Dining Plan on our first trip as a family! I think that we'll eat a lot better (and healthier) on this next trip.

I wish I'd known that Peter Pan's line sometimes stretches around the corner toward liberty Square and that you can't see that if you approach it from the Philharmagic side.

We saw the line and it looked like the exact same line as it was when we waited 10 minutes. So we hopped in even though it said 30. It was 30 and as soon as we rounded the courner, instead of switching back, we went on. HEHE. Lesson Learned. By the way they have even more space back there that can be opened up for lines. So an hour long line can look exactly the same as a 10 minute one if you approach from the Philharmagic area.

I wish I knew that WDW transportation takes more time than you think it should. Our 1st trip onsite in 2001 even the monorail had traffic! Now we know better and leave 2x the amount of time we think it should take.

On a related note.

I'm sure there are many people who wish they'd known the pain in the rear that is going from one resort to another through DownTownDisney.

I'm sure there are many people who wish they'd known the TTC is not a bus hub.

I wish I knew about the Dis Boards....oh how it would have saved me a lot of time and money, we went in July and stayed off site...yikes!

I wish I knew when that 3:00 parade was going to be.......just kidding :rotfl:

:wave2: Oh I wish I would of known

1. About DVC 5 years ago and would of bought the first time around instead of 3 year later.

2. The downfalls of staying off site before I tried it once.

3. The frienship boats going from Epcot to MGM. Geez how I wish I would of known.

4. These boards 5 years ago.

5 About Beaches and Cream

6.That mears is HORRIBLE!!! :furious: Use a towncar. It is worth the money!

7. But most of all that I have so many wonderful and freindly WDW friends here. :yay:

I wish I would have bought into DVC sooner....

I wish I had a canned response for people that say "Your going to Disney again?"

or "I can't go to Disney, I want a relaxing vacation"

fools ^^^

Okay, this goes way back to when there was only one park - Magic Kingdom! I wish that I had known we could visit the resorts, even though we weren't staying there! (that's one of our favorite ways to relax now!)

Wish I had known that the DVC wasn't just for "rich people" - we would have bought it sooner!

The first time we went, I wish I would have known about makind PS's. We ended up eating mostly counter service and having dinners off site. Which brings me to the other thing I would have known. Staying on site is way better than staying offsite. Also wish I would have known about this board more than a week before my first trip. It would have helped me out a lot.

Subscribing to learn for my trip!!

What are the friendship boats?

Why is Mears horrible?

I wish I had known about DVC before we bought our other timeshare.

I wish I had known that you need to allow for LOTS of extra time when you're taking the bus to get to an ADR.

I wish I had known to just take my time and stop and smell the roses. We do that now, and things are so much better.

I wish I had thought to not let things like crabby guests get to me. They've ruined half a day for me in the past...THAT doesn't happen anymore, either.

I wish I had known, before wasting my money on one, that those stupid turkey legs taste like ham on a stick(yuck!)

I wish I had known that being a lover of Disney would end up, in indirect ways, turning my life upside down and changing it for the best!... :thumbsup2

My Dw saving 3 days of vacation to go at Christmas was not a savings due to how crowded the park is.

Knowing that WDW is crowded at Christmas. Should have planned to go the week after Thanksgiving.

Knowing that I could trade my time share for a DVC property if we went during a slow period.

Being able to use SOG for tickets and how ticket prices are cheaper if you don't buy them at the gate. What a bad first trip.
:sad2:

The friendship boats run between Epcot and MGM. There are five resort in the same area. They are Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club and the Swan and Dolphin. If you are staying at any of these resorts you take the friendship boat to get to MGM or Epcot. You can also walk.

Prior to Disney offering the Magical Express which is run by Mears now Mears was also running transportation from the airport to your resort. Several times we had gone down and used Mears to get to our resort we had huge problems. One time we waited over an hour and a half for a bus and it was not busy at all. Another time they packed 11 of us in a van in temps of 97 plus. We sat in the van w/o AC on and the doors open while they waited to pack more people in. Another time Mears forgot to pick us up at our resort finally when our flight was less than 70 minutes from take off they (mears) called us a taxi. IN the past also when using Mears they have had anywhere from 3 stops to 6 stops. If you are one of the first off the bus it is great but when you are the 6th stop and you have been with mears for over 3 1/2 hours your patients has ended. Since then we have used a towncar and now use Magical Express. So far the magical express even though it is run by mears has not been bad.

It is part of "Disney Transportation" It is a boat that will take you to Epcot or MGM from the 5 resorts around Boardwalk. The SWan, Dolphine, Boardwalkvilla's, Beach Club and Yacht Club.
