What I heard on the Disney bus....

Several companies have touted their versions of these things, without even test vehicles produced. They love to bring up Disney's name, however...like the one recently that was human powered like a bike and they called a "monorail" as well to get that buzzword as well. Of course, they looked like glass bullets with the rider in a rather uncomfortable position.

Ah, the Shweeb...
http://www.shweeb.com/
I would love squeezing into a small plastic bullet just after some sweaty stranger popped out at the conclusion of their pedal around the park.

I'm sure they can work around all that. Maybe build the new parts of the park in glass domes under the lake between BW and BC, kind of like the Gungan city in Star Wars Episode 1.

Come to think of it, they can add a new country to the WS - Atlantis. It could have a killer seafood restaurant. Kind of like the Coral Reef, only with good food.

And as for the the walking issue, I've heard they are going to expand the monorail. Something about a new spur that will run from the airport to Tampa. They could just run it right through the new Epcot Studios park and let park guests hop on and off. They can even knock out those rooms in the Swan and Dolphin that were painted black and run the monorail through there like it was meant to be in the first place.

And the nighttime show can be called "Illumitastic" or "Fantinations", which will save Disney lots of money since they only have to put on one show. And only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

I love it. Maybe they can make a "Magic Animal Kingdom", too, where Cinderella greets guests at her castle in safari get-up.

:rotfl:
I can see Cindy poking at and agitating the animals with an Aussie accent (ala the Crocodile hunter).
“Crinky! This is a cross little bugger. Watch 'im bite me after I poke him in the head 5 times.”
)

They really need to connect Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios, then fuse the rides and attractions to match both styles. I'd be first in line to see "Lights, Motors, Jambo! Animal Stunt Spectacular."

Also the Great Movie Safari. 'And over here we might be able to find some Munchkins. But they sleep most of the day, so if you see one, consider yourself lucky.'

But the greatest one of all will be Rock n' Roller Coaster: Starring Abdoulaye Diakite!

....today: The lady sitting beside me on a Disney bus today had a lot to say. She apparently travels to WDW often and heard the following information when she booked her trip. She said that 2013 is the year to come back because the FLE will be finished (no surprise there) and that the new part of the expansion will then be bigger than all of MK is today. Then she went on to say that the next project will be to expand Epcot and DHS and connect those two parks.
I've read a lot about the FLE and have read a lot of the rumors on this board, but that was the first I had heard of all this. Granted, I was listening to a random stranger on a Disney bus, but I was wondering if there is any truth to anything she said. I really can't see them combining the two parks, but enlarger or adding to them, maybe.
I love fellow guest rumors! Now IMHO Downtown Disney should of been put between Epcot and DHS.

Last trip a fellow guest told us where the FLE construction is going on that they are building a whole new MK park and once its done they are going to tear down the original one and put a parking garage on its location. I tried to inform him on the FLE but he just kept on insisting his theory is correct. I don’t know how many times he said he is from the Orlando area too.

His theory was the MK is sinking that’s why they have to build a new one and a parking garage with handle guest traffic better.

All I have to say is WoW

I don't see how just living in the Orlando area makes him a Disney insider.

But hey, maybe he is right. Then we can all go to the parking garage and have fun together.

Thats how he put it another family bought into his BS who was listening in.

At first I challenged him on his thories but not wanting to further an arguement I just kept my mouth shut.

It was a long boat ride from DHS to Epcot.

I'm glad I wasn't there. I probably would have ticked him off something terrible with my style of arguments.

And poor other family, buying into stuff like that so easily.

Not so far-fetched as you might think. Visionaries have been pushing just such systems for decades: they're called PRT, for Personal Rapid Transit.

The problem is capacity -- with 4-6 passengers per vehicle, it might take thousands of them to handle a park close. And, of course, money and commitment to an untested technology.
The limiting factor is track space. Hundreds or thousands of small pods that each carry one to six people will mean congestion points here and there. This will be notably where line branches merge, where cars accelerating from station or stop merge into the main line, and where long queues of cars wait to unload at certain stations back up into the track bypassing the station.

Apparently the Disney company, after Walt's passing, concluded that personal rapid transit was not a viable idea since the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow+ does not have it.
... "Lights, Motors, Jambo! Animal Stunt Spectacular ...
That is called a circus. PETA* has long wanted to see circuses abolished.

I did hear of one rumor where a parking garage would be built next to Transportation and Ticket Center (a la Universal Stuidos Florida setup if you have seen that) and that would become the Magic Kingdom parking and also parking for a fifth theme park that took the space of said former MK parking lot. (My idea of 2010: Also a restaurant and stores bridge between TTC and the new park again a la Universal.) Now I am not sure whether the Richard Petty auto racing track uses up enough space there that a new theme park could not go there any more. MK would remain where it is.

Although the intent was that MK would be totally within the railroad circling it, Disney has and could continue to get away with have the bodies of attractions outside the railroad but the entrances are within that area.

* People Eating Tasty Animals
+ called Celebration and located about 5 miles southeast of Epcot.

But you see, it's a show where the cars (notice the "Motors" part of the title) are shaped like a pack of cheetahs chasing after a gazelle at 50 mph, and there are donuts and high-speed turns and a seperate gazelle car that makes it look like it's running backwards.

The tasty animal-eating people will be disappointed, I know, but we cannot please everyone.

Walt was the visionary and innovator. Too bad he didn't live longer, otherwise he might have brought about a personal rapid transit system. Just a demonstration, connecting perhaps six to eight locations within a relatively confined area such as Epcot and the Boardwalk/Swan area.

A vague representation of a PRT system is this mid-20'th century toy that was intended to teach spelling. The lettered blocks represent the vehicles In an actual PRT, the stations (center tracks) connect to the main line at both ends.

Ok, great for Ringling Bros. If they have a thing for motorcyclists in a globe, then let them do their thing. :goodvibes

My intention was to have the show be similar to the way Lights, Motors, Action! is now, but with different theming. You know, a (if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but give it a new coat of paint) sort of thing. So they can release a new line of themed cars in their gift shops to be scarfed up by the diecast car nuts.

As for the parking garage theory with the FLE plans, I still think they should add one for all the strollers.

:rotfl:

No, the FLR won't be bigger then the entire MK. It will be the biggest of the lands when done but it will not be any bigger than it was when the sub ride was working. Well I guess you could argue that it's going to be a little bigger because the new restaurant is being built over a 30 spot parking lot. But then I would counter that they turned the Galaxy Theater into a parking lot so it all balances out.
It's nice to see the trend reversing from a shrinking park to one that gets back to where it used to be though. I mean c’mon Disney, it's a flagship park and only the most visited park in the world! Let’s keep shutting attractions down...
Sorry I'm ranting again, it's a sore subject with me.
Also, I think just the first phase of construction is finishing in 2013. I think the second phase is going to take longer (might be wrong though)?
As for Epcot and MGM, I don't think there's a way to connect them really. Might be able to build a more direct walkway so you can huff it between the two or it would be nice to see the monorail extended. I think all the monorail expansion theories have been laid to rest though.

I do think you are correct only phase one will be complete in 2013 - and I also hear more and more that whole phases and parts keep getting cut or changed, so no telling what it will turn out to be. I am sure it will be wonderful - as for me my kids are getting older and it probably will not be somewhere we will spend much time - they groan now when I force them on Its a Small World - they say ok we can go cool off.

The lady on the bus today told me that Disney had been looking into teleporters but had some issues.

Bed bugs kept getting in with the test subject and well... you know how that ends up. :)
