What/how/why does a baby consider us a party of 6? And therefore the automatic tip

We are a family of 6 and it annoys me to no end that a baby counts as a sixth person, even one who is in a baby sling. Someone give me some rational for that...... Anyway we had 7-9 TS during our April trip and only once did I ask for the manager to adjust the tip. We were at Boma and although the server was very nice we only saw her twice, drink order and check. I flagged down another server after my 2 yr old sat and rather loudly let everyone know she needed ketchup for 10 minutes. The rest of the time I had no issues with the 18% and on a few occassions let more for excellent service. I have no issue tipping it just P***** me off that a baby that takes up no space ie no high chair or booster seat is added in the party total. Its just aggravating and takes time out of my vacation to take to a manager about a less than adequate server.

I would guess they count a baby in a sling as there is no guarantee that a baby will stay in a sling for the whole meal. What should they do if someone takes their baby out partway thru the meal?:confused3Come running out and yell "Ma'am! Put that baby back in its sling, or your tip will be automatically added to your bill!"? A person is a person, even if it is a tiny one.

I don't have a problem with the tip being added. I have been down with small ones and at the end of the meal there is usually sizable mess under their chairs even though they have not ordered anything off of the menu. It makes it easier on our group so we don't have to figure out the tip.

That said I have also never had a problem with any of my servers, so I can see if you have to adjust the tip at the end of the meal that would be a pain.

Then why dont "people" even tiny ones under 3 require a tix to get into disney? I mean a person is a person right? :confused3

Because your tiny person is not taking up fixed space, like they are at a table. That is the best I can come up with.:3dglasses Fact is Disney makes the rules. And they have decided not to charge children under 3 admission, but to say that they take up space in a restaurant. Their parks, their rules. It doesn't have to make sense to us as long as it does to them.

they (infants) take up as much or more (in a stroller) space than my 5 yr old with out a stroller did walking down main street in MK. Even if they are taking up space at MY table its not like they would have sat someone else there if my baby wasn't there. Have you ever had a person seated with you if there was space at your table? Of course not.. I wont get a bigger table with 6 than I would with 5. Of course its their park their rules.. I still dont have to like em ;)

I always do my best to clear up any mess under the babies high chair. :) I am not anticipating any problems so all fuss I am making will be a storm in a teacup right ::yes:: I guess I just hate that I am "forced" essentially into tipping and "forced" into having to take extra time out to bring my disatisfaction to a manager should their be one instead if using my time, to leave a lower tip and get up and go. To me most servers that have done a less than reasonable job will know they have done and should therefore know why they receive a lower tip.
