So, we are coming in the HOT summer and plan to tour parks in the am and pm with a break in the afternoon to relax and get out of the heat.

We have one night (a Sunday) at the RPH. We plan to check in early and head over to US. Hopefully the room will be ready by the time we are ready for our afternoon break. But on Monday, we'll have to check out before we leave for early entry (or come back at 11 - will we be ready to leave IOS by then?). So what do we do that afternoon to take a break from the heat and park? (our next hotel is in DTD and we can't check in there until 4)

Any and all suggestions welcome!

You can use the pool on your check in and check out day. We took a quick swim to cool off before our flight.

Suggestions:

  1. Late lunch or afternoon snack at Margaritaville.
  2. Visit one of the other hotels (PBH/HRH).
  3. See a movie at the Citywalk theater.

If you didn`t fancy and afternoon swim before you leave why not head to a Mall for a couple of hours. Millenia Mall is close by. Cheesecake Factory is fabulous for lunch :lovestruc

That`s where we spend a few hours in the afternoons in August to get out of the heat for a bit. Assuming you have a car of course.

Our room at PBH was not ready on our check in day until 4:00. The hotel was very busy, so we could not get a room any earlier. We used the pool to cool off and hang out while waiting for our room.

From my past experince, they have never let us into our room before 4 pm. Since you only have one day (and a half), and you want to do both parks (and I assume you want to spend some time at HP), you may not have much time to take a break. Sure the express pass will help, but going during the summer months for only one night and wanting to hit both parks will take most of the day.

My suggestion would be this:

Check in really early on sunday to get your room key for the express. The front desk will call you around 4 pm to let you know your room is ready. Head to the Studios and do/see everything there. If you get to the parks by 10 am, you should be able to see everything by 4 when they call. Then, head back to the hotel to get your stuff to your rooms and take maybe an hour break to relax in the room. Then, around 5 or 6 I would head to IOA. If you get to IOA at 6, you are only going to have 4 hours to see everything in that park since it closes at 10 pm most nights during the summer. 4 hours is not enough to see everything (you could easily spend 4 hours in HP alone) however since HP normally does not require a wait to get into the area in the evening ( during the day you could easily have to wait over an hour just to get INTO the area. Then the wait for the rides could be another hour or two), this would be the best time to visit it...plus it looks SOOOO much better at night! Then, the next morning I would check out of the hotel and head back to IOA to do everything else that you missed. Since you already saw HP the night before, there is no need to rush in the morning to get to the parks. Just wake up and check out BEFORE heading to the parks. You are going to waste a lot more time waking up, heading to the parks, then heading back to the hotel at 11 to check out and then going back to the parks again for a few hours before you can check into your next hotel.

OP we've done this before - enjoy the pool @ the onsite resort in the am (you'll have it nearly to yourself!). Head back to in your hotel room to change & checkout by 11 am. Then head on over to parks for 1/2 day before you head down to DTD for next portion of trip
