What was only a 3 day trip is now a 10 day trip thanks to the free dining :cool1: :cool1:

My problem is that I always overpack, I need to learn to travel light :confused3 :confused3

What to pack for 10 days for 2 kids(boys) 2 adults?
(I always do laundry on the last day of the trip :laundy: )
Thanks
Linnette

From one over-packer to another:

Plan to do laundry mid-trip (not the last day of your trip, as you mention in your post).

Lay out all the clothes you want to take for each person, then reduce the amount by half (yes, half!). Take it from me - I wish I had brought half the amount of clothes on my trip last year. I used about one-third of the things I brought. My trip was Saturday-to-Saturday, and I did laundry Wednesday. Worked out perfect!!

Unless you're going during a really "sweaty" time of year, your clothes will probably not get that dirty. I often wore shorts/capris more than once before putting them in the laundry pile. I also hand-washed a few things.

Good luck!

I pack for 5 people - for 12 nights.
1st tip: Roll everything. You would be surprised how much more you can fit! 2nd tip: Do wash mid-week. I totally agree with the poster above.
3rd tip: Try to find clothes that will mix and match. For example denim shorts will "go" with any t-shirt. As will black shorts. You get the idea.

I will say that I HATE to do laundry on vacation. It's just such a drag :sad1:
But being gone as long as we are I will probably do wash at least once..probably twice. :sad2:

Have a great time and try rolling those clothes!!!

If we are doing laundry half-way throught the trip, I usually pack the following:

For adults:

2 pairs of pants
2 pairs of shorts
one pair of capris (for me only princess: - optional)
short sleeved shirts - number of trip days divided by 2
long sleeved shirts - 1-2 (including thermals for me)
one pair sleep pants (for me)
one sweatshirt or sweater
one jacket
undies - number of trip days divided by 2 plus 1 in the carry-on
socks - same as undies

for DS (5)
add one each to the bottoms and two each to the tops.
add two each to undies and socks
one jacket
2 pairs of sweats - top and bottom

It's better to bring an extra roll of quarters and extra laundry detergent then extra clothes!

If you plan on going during the hotter months you might want to bring 2 bathing suits. It is not easy putting on a wet bathing suit if you plan on a lot of swimming.

For ten nights we bring 5 ourfits we are going when it will be warm so we might change for dinner. I also bring shower shoes for the pool area. Something that is ok to get wet.

I like red for polar fleece pull overs if it is chilly when we go. It is always easy to find your group.

Sunglasses and hats and lots of the sport fast drying sunscreen any time we go. Portable DVD player and a few new tapes. We rent a mini van and it keeps us occupied. I Pods, game boys and lots of AA batteries.

For myself a stash of good choclate. LOL

I rememeber when my mom packed for my brother she bought the gallon size zip lock bags and put an outfit in each bag including a pair of socks and U/W. It was way easier in the morning when we were getting ready because he could just grab a bag and get ready. Then if you had to do laundry you could just match up the outfits in the bags again. When I travel I like to have lots of mix and match outfits especially with different tops.

I pack 2 outfits per day for 1/2 the days we are going and do laundry. We go in September which requires a rest and shower with fresh clothes each aftrenoon.

I am also doing laundry half way thru the trip !! were getting better at packing.... see ya's in Sept.! :surfweb:

We always pack 1/2 of the amount of clothes we need for our trip and do laundry in the middle because our trips are usually 10+ days in length. We all take a sweatshirt (zip/jacket) and usually each get a new one - so, we end up with 2 each while there (one to wear, one to wash).

We are leaving next Friday for WDW and I think we have all of the usual stuff we take in addition to clothes:

- Dollar Tree rain ponchos
- New books/magazines for airplane entertainment
- airplane snacks
- a Ziplock bag filled with bandaids, neosporin, tylenol, advil, prescription meds, dramamine, etc. I've made one too many treks to the first aid station in parks for these things and find it easier to carry my own. By the way, I did find that some of the park shops carry individual doses of some OTC (Tylenol) meds for about $1.00/pack if anybody ever finds they need them;) They aren't displayed in plain site - just ask the person working at the register.

Have a fun trip!!;)

I hate PUTTING on a WET suit. My dh thinks I am nuts I always bring 2 suits for me and 4 dd's . He has no problem wearing a wet suit

I agree with doing wash halfway through the week. We were in a condo with a washer and dryer, but I still packed 8 outfits for our 7 day trip. I wish I hadn't, because I still did some laundry mid week! I'd just pack your 5 or 6 favorite outfits, and do wash halfway through the week.

My DH and I counsel at a summer camp one week each year, so we have to pack clothes for the whole time we're gone-no laundry facilities. DH is going for 2 weeks back to back this year, so we have to find somewhere for him to do laundry or he'll be naked by week 2! Otherwise, we'd have to find him 16 outfits, as well as room to pack towels, etc. for two weeks. Try fitting that much stuff in a cabin filled with 8 teenage boys!

we were there 10 nights the end of April...and we pack way too much. I packed tons of drinks, snacks, food...and didn't touch 1/3 of it. I would pack as lightly as you possible can. We drove so it wasn't too bad but I had to pack everything for our wedding! Dress, suits, flowers.... that didn't help on the packing!! But you'll get to have so much more fun than the 3 day trip you started planning! :)

Mix Matching in the best advice for me. We go when it's cold so a pair of blue jeans and black jeans and chg. out the shirt. I work my red mickey fleece more than once to the night shows. Black capris and black shorts. I always overpack but I learn every yr. I am packing lighter our next trip. I've never rolled the clothes so I will try that too!

We are also going for 10 days in Sept. (POP). :goodvibes This will be our second 10 day trip and I guess we must pack too much because we have yet to do laundry. :goodvibes I do bring soap along just in case, and maybe this time we'll actually use it. As far as my mom and I go, we don't get too dirty and can re-wear our clothes. My DD6 is small, and so her clothes don't take much room. I usually pack 2 b.suits for me and at least 4 for her. (She has a large selection now thanks to the sale at Old Navy!)

But I will admit that I probably bring too many clothes. (Just ask my mom! :rotfl2: ) I'm trying to reduce it-maybe there's a 10 step program? :rotfl2: As far as food, we do pack a few things, but since we get a rental van we always go to Walmart a few times with the first stop on the way to check-in (usually about 11 p.m.) I have learned, however, to at least pack a few small food items like the small boxes of cereal, etc. just in case we don't stop at Walmart on the way in. We always eat breakfast in our room. Cereal, bagels, toast with pb&j, etc. Saves time and money. :cheer2:

10 days - 4 adults (DD 21 & DS 15)

2 checked bags with the following in each for each of us:

1 pr shorts
2 - 3 matching tops
3 Pr undies & socks
1 pr compatible footwear

2 carry ons:
1 pr shorts w/matching top
bathing suit (only DS really swims)
pj's

Plus whatever we wear on the flight down.

This gives us 4 - 6 outfits depending on sloppiness/sweat factor. DH & I will do laundry once, maybe twice (hate to bring home a ton of dirty laundry). If we really need something else, we'll buy it & call it a souvenier!!

We stay for 11 days and it was so much easier this last trip because I did do laundry 1/2 through the trip. The laundry rooms are nice and I believe they are all by the pools. My DH usually "rests" while I am doing the laundry. We liked the extra room in our suitcases for the souves.
