What hotel chain do you think is consistently the best?

Another vote for Holiday Inn Express! We've always have good luck and they seem to be newer than some of the standard Holiday Inns that have been around forever. Rooms are always clean, and good breakfast selection.

I've had very good stays with Hampton Inn the past year. I've also had some nice stays at Holiday Inn Express, but the last one was a bit rough (Savannah, Georgia) Prior to that I always recommended a Marriott, but they seem to have slipped lately.

Marriotts and Hampton Inns are always good. I've also had luck at Sheratons (or anything in the Starwood family), Holiday Inns, and Country Inns & Suites. No matter what the "brand", always look at reviews for the specific hotel you want to stay at at Trip Advisor. All hotels will have a few bad reviews, but if you see a lot of reviews with similar complaints, it's probably accurate.

Hampton Inn all the way. Never had bad luck...great breakfasts.

I've never had a bad stay at a Country Inn and Suites. Just stayed in one this weekend and it was great. I feel they are a little cheaper than Hampton Inns or Holiday Inn Express.

I am a Starwood fan (Westin, Sheraton, Le Meridien, W Hotel, St Regis) and will choose one of their properties if available. I also have had good luck with Marriott. A super comfortable bed is at the top of my list when I stay at a hotel and I am willing to pay the price for it. I am glad that good beds and bedding are becoming more standard in the industry.

I was coming here to answer Ritz Carlton then you changed it to 'budget friendly' in your second paragraph. I have no idea which chain is consistent. I don't think any of them are consistent. It depends on location and who's running them.

I prefer Marriotts. I primary stay at the chain for work, however now this is the only location we stay at when we travel. Many of the Marriott brands have been redone recently so they are very updated.

Marriott is very consistent. They are the McDonald's of hotels. :rotfl:

We almost always stay at a Hampton Inn while traveling unless there's not one available.

We like Residence Inn and Homewood Suites for lengthy stays of two days or more.

I think Im only the second person to say Drury. It really depends on the area if they have any there yet, they are starting to spread a lot now. We have been staying with Drury many years (8 or so) and never have a bad experience and they are the only ones I know that do so much free food, and it isnt really reflected in their price. For example they have...

Breakfast- biscuits and gravy, french toast, eggs, waffles, sausage, muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, etc. Milk, juice and coffee.

Every night from 5:30-7pm they do "kickbacks" this consist of different food items each night, but we just stayed at a Drury last Fri night and they had hotdogs, meat (seasoned hamburger), make your own nachos with refried beans, cheese sauce, salsa, sour cream, and peppers. Also have baked potato and salad everynight. Other nights they have soups, mac and cheese, chicken tenders, wings, etc.
Also, every night every adult gets 3 "adult beverages" free too.

If you look online, you can usually print a free upgrade coupon and it is good for an upgrade to the next available room type. EX. for our anniversary last week we booked and paid for a King deluxe room, used the free upgrade coupon and got upgraded to our choice of a 2 room suite or a jacuzzi room, wellll....we took the jacuzzi room!:lovestruc

Anyway....we LOVE Drury!

I always liked Country Inns & Suites, but I was travelling with a group for business and stayed at one in Tampa that was pretty awful. The mini-fridge had food left in it that had been there a long time. Our rooms weren't ready at check-in. The bills were wrong at check-out and took a lengthy time to get corrected. I had no wash cloths in my room. The ice machine on our floor was broken. I only saw one female other than our group while we were there. The rest of the guests were pretty rough looking men.

The front desk staff and manager were all pretty unfriendly. I never felt welcomed, which is odd, because we had rented 14 rooms. Usually management is glad to get a group. We stayed in one Spring Hill Suites in Texas where the marketing manager came out at breakfast every morning to tell us how happy she was that we were there and to see if we needed anything. That was impressive.

This is nice thread. In my view hotel merriot is best of one of them.Because they provide good facility to the customer and also the lunch of this hotel is superb. In looking this hotel is designed by the best engineer of the city. All the staff of this hotel is good in nature.

I second a PP that mentioned checking on Trip Advisor. They try to keep the bogus reviews to a minimum but they do slip through occasionally. I take the reviewers number of posts into consideration when deciding on a hotel plus if you are really planning ahead, you can contact the reviewers though they don't always respond back.

I go to Trip Advisor a lot when planning a trip, not just for hotels but for restaurants and things to do too.
