We fly from Manchester airport on 23rd May 2011   and although we could drive there on the morning I would sooner go on the Sunday. Less stressful and it means our holiday starts earlier. :lmao: We may even be able to check in early, something else I need to check!

So...... which hotel should I book? I would appreciate any recommendations. I haven't even looked at the options yet.

I've stayed in the Bewleys and the Hilton. Both the same price on the internet, both of equal standard and both offer a shuttle bus 24/7 to the airport terminal you fly from. Fully recommend either of those. The Hilton shuttle is every 15 minutes and the Bewleys one is pre-booked for you when you check in. You just tell them the time you want to leave.

There are cheaper ones like the Travelodge but they are further away.

My ritual is to get the train to the airport, walk to Bewleys/Hilton, ditch suitcases there and go back into Manchester on the train for lunch/tea. It does feel like your holiday is starting earlier and adds to the whole experience. :thumbsup2

Radisson Business class room for us. :thumbsup2 It has always worked out cheaper to take a business class room with breakfast included than to take a standard room and pay for breakfast. We never have time to eat it, but they have a grab n go area in the lobby for those leaving early (I think from 4 or 5 am). Nice to have the sky link and walk across to check in too.

Out of interest, how much do the Radisson rooms start at?

Never looked at their prices as I always just assumed they'd be crazy due to the location. £69 for the Hilton/Bewleys seemed more than fair for the just the night with shuttle included.

Er, cough cough, last year was around £155 if I recall correctly for a business class room, king bed, including breakfast. The price actually dropped after I booked and when I paid, it was about £15 less, but we had a dinner tab added on from the restaurant too.

In 2008 it was about the same price, but this year I have seen prices that beat what I have paid in the past so there are deals out there if you are willing to keep hunting. A non refundable pre-paid room on their own website usually gives the best deal. Also check if it works out cheaper through a cash back website.

We have stayed at Bewleys which is nice and comfortable, clean and nice bar area!

We stay at the Radisson more often than not, straight on the terminal, no shuttles required and again nice, some of the rooms are a little dated but clean and nice enough!

This time, as a first, we are staying at the Premier Inn at the Trafford Centre, will be able to go somewhere nice for food in the Trafford Centre instead of eating at the hotel (Radisson doesnt have a huge selection, nice food but got a massive hair in my dinner last time and its really put me off....)! We are then paying for parking at the airport next to the terminals and it works out similar to what we would have paid for Bewleys/ Radisson including parking! :thumbsup2

We're travelling to the Radisson Blu today and have a family room booked (2 rooms interconnecting) and are paying just £130.

This doesn't include breakfast but we'll grab something in the airport after we check in.

We like the Radisson too :thumbsup2

We normally book a room with a runway view and just like how it is a short walk to check in. We don't bother with breakfast and prefer to go to Frankie and Bennys once through security :goodvibes

I have already booked parking with a meet n greet company so was looking for just a room !
Travelodge are doing rooms for £19 a night at the moment its 0.8 miles away from the airport but Im very impressed to get 2 rooms for under £40 :thumbsup2

With the 15 days parking that is an excellent deal. :thumbsup2 We fly from a different airport this year but I chose Premier over and above Holiday Inn (and Ramada Jarvis ). When I went to book they had extended their speciall offer for room only so it cost me £29 per room (got one for us and one for my parents).

Just checked in at the Radisson, 8th floor, rooms are big, bathroom is huge and the runway views are excellent.

I found it weird that reception is on level 3 but we walked in at the ground level through a lobby where people were eating and for a four star deluxe the rooms need updating.

Maybe our end of the building and rooms are the older rooms but for £130 for 2 rooms I am not complaining :thumbsup2

Were staying at the Radisson too, only paid £79 via Expedia room only and then got £9 back on Quidco :thumbsup2

can't complain at that price :goodvibes

we are staying at the travel lodge £35 for a family room (2 adult and 2 children ) and all you can eat breakfast for £6.50 for each adult and kids eat free breakfast served from 5am
also a shuttle to and from the airport and the train station

If I can get a similar deal for May I think I might try the Radisson.

Good thinking with Quidco too. Had never even thought of doing that.
