OK, need to send at least 10 packages off to family in the mail. Thinking of some homemade goodies to snack on during the holidays. What do you send?
Ideas/recipes would be appreciated. Also, the cheaper the better!

TIA!!
Amy

I just mailed 5 dozen cookies to my husband and his soldiers. I sent some plain peanut butter, peanut butter kiss (using the carmel in the middle kisses), oatmeal/cranberry, chocolate chip, and sugar.

I also sent about 4lbs of dipped pretzels. I used milk chocolate, white chocolate, chocolate/carmel mix.

3 batches of rice krispy treats some plain, some with red & green m&ms, and some with chocolate chips.

You can also make peanut clusters or tons of different kinds of fudge. Mini loaves of fruit breads or different pastries.

I put my stuff in tin and then tape the tins tightly and using the flat rate 7.70 shipping box from the post office.

Thank you soooo much!!!! I guess just making cookies; love the peanut butter ones!! I need easy stuff to make!!!! Cookies, mini breads, brownies, do those sound like they would hold up?

Sure just make sure to pack the tins real tight so nothing moves around. If you need to I just tape saran wrap and was it up around the sides to act as a bumper so things can't move. If you only mail one tin in a box I would also advise ALOT of newspaper in the box to also keep it from shifting so much. Also there is a great thread on the budget board about nice economic holiday treats.

Thank you sooo much for your help!!!! I am heading right over to the budget board!!!! Happy Holidays to you, your husband and all the soliders!!!

I send to my kids all the time.
Cookies, brownies, fudge and other candies.
Tins are good.
I just wrap all cookies with different flavorings separate so the tastes don't mingle.

HUMMMM....reading this thread is making me hungry!!!! I think that might not be too hard. I will get some tins and fill them up. The post office has some really cute Mickey boxes to send things in. They all know I am a Disney Nut!!!

We sent cookies to my brother when he was stationed in Afghanistan. The only ones who made it whole were the ones "shrink-wrapped" in the food sealer packages. He said those "rocked." The others were cookie dust.

Can someone please help me figure out how to melt chocolate chips. I ask every year. People tell me every year. And every year my chocolate siezes up on me. It's not pretty. I did have good luck last year with Almond bark, but while Almond bark is in short supply this time of year.

I always melt mine with shortening. But I usually drizzle it too. I just pop ity in the microwave with some shortening and cook for 20 sec at a time, then mix. Works well for me, but my cooking skills are limited.
