What have the dining boards become?

Wish there was little Smilies Guy for shaking my head.

You reported the thread. The moderators took care of it and may have warned or banned the offender. That's really all you can do. Bringing it up in another thread really won't do anything except stir the pot and keep the bad feelings alive. Just my opinion.

Calgarygary is my DH and he was admonished for not reporting it when a post of his was removed where he expressed his dismay. He had in fact pushed the little bad post icon immediately upon seeing the picture.

The same thing happened to me...I reported a bad post and really felt that I had done something wrong when the Mod PM'd me that the post had been removed.

Hi! You will note that *****'s post has been deleted. I should add that I--and all the restaurant mods--are now taking a much tougher stance on ALL argumetative and/or sarcastic posts as per the Disboard guidelines.
We're not going to allow things to get as out of hand as they did on that thread, or others.

The post that I reported did not get removed BTW!

Am I just getting sensitive and should go to my Happy Place, I'm starting to think that might be on another board where people are allowed to ask questions about whether it is okay to post pictures of other people children and not be called pot stirrers.

To stir the pot would have been to stay on the contentious thread and shame the folks may probably had issue with the picture!

The CB is a safe haven compared to the Resort & Restaurant Boards :rotfl2: ...God forbid that you disagree with someones opinion of the Pop Century or Jiko :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Now hey...whats wrong with Jiko? We love it there (but then again, its only our opinion). ;)

And someone took a picture of this??? Not my idea of a Kodak moment, but to each their own.

Thats what I was thinking. What made someone feel it was necessary to take a picture of this other than to post it somewhere. What was the poster thinking?? Thats just weird to begin with.

actually - posting on the CB puts it more into the limelight...I had no clue about that thread until I saw this one....

and that's pretty gross what the kids was doing, I wouldn't have taken a picture but it probably would have made my trip report.

And how do you all feel about the pics posted of others shoes/undergarments/etc being posted in essence making fun of an unknowing person? Should those pictures allowed to be posted? (not comparing this to the OP's thread just a side thought I had after seeing the "blue thong")

Robin, when we see something that appears that almost everyone agrees is wrong (doesn't matter whether it is legal or not) shouldn't we take every step to correct the situation. To me, that meant not just reporting it, but trying to have an open discussion about it so that maybe, in the future, we will take a breath and think twice about what we are doing. If my interests were truely stirring the pot, this thread would have at least been posted in the dining boards, have links to the original thread (not mine, please don't refer to it as the OP's thread) and identified the offending person. What I would like to see, I guess in a fantasyworld type of way, is DISers taking responsibility for their posts and hopefully thinking before posting.

I was thinking the same thing.

Well ... there you go. If your post was not removed and you received that response then I think you're doing fine. Your husband asked "What have the dining boards become?" and you have your answer. The mods have also seen problems on the board and are kicking butts and taking names over there. Your name and that of your DH don't seem to be on the list or your posts would also have been deleted.

Instead you bring the Dining Board's dirty laundry and air it here on the Community Board. It was very simple to look at your previous posts and figure out (A) which thread it was and (B) who the offending poster was and (C) what picture it was before Anne spilled the beans. You didn't need to post on the Dining Board add links to the original thread to shame that person. You did a bang-up job of it here.

This looks like rehashing of problems from another forum. Please let it go.
