What Have I Done????

As well as DD (8) we also have 3 older sons who grew out of family hols when they were about 16. I think this is one reason why we enjoy DLP so much at the moment as we know DD will eventually reach the stage where she outgrows us as well. Although DS (21) is coming with us at Easter and really looking forward to it.

We are also thinking of ways to surprise DD with the trip on Christmas day. I had wondered about a puzzle of some kind - piece together the clues sort of thing but it would have to be something she wanted to do or it would just get left to one side.

You can get a jigsaw made from your own photo in the likes of Tesco instore or online. www.tescophoto.com. you could use one of your DLP photos?

Actually I just checked the price of the jigsaws and they are £9.99, however you could personalise a newspaper and they are just £6.99 at the moment. I have had one done for my daughter for her birthday and its really good.

You pick a newspaper and story and upload your own photo to the website and personalise the wording of the story you choose. When I did mine I did it in a hurry and would perhaps have changed a bit more of the wording.

BTW we're staying at the Hotel Cheyenne and would be happy to meet up with anyone :)

Wow! How fantastic that all you guy's have such great relationships with your teenagers. I think I could definately use this to try and convince my Hubby to go to Disney more often. It certainly seems to creater better bonds with your kids....maybe its that Disney magic!!!!

We have a 19 year old DS who grew out of family holidays at around 16 also, though he did come with us on a short cruise this year, and very much enjoyed it.

I can't ever see DD growing out of Disneyland, I think if you look around this board you will find that there are a lot of adults just like her too! :rotfl2:

Regarding meeting up, there are quite a few of us there on the 27th/28th, do you think I should start a new thread suggesting this, and see what kind of response I get? It may not be noticed here...

Great idea :thumbsup2
We could also put a link against your dates on the "When are you going" sticky to the meet thread :)

Sounds good to me, will start a new thread and see if we can get a group together.

Great news about the impromptu holiday Annette, you will both love the Christmas season.

I think you're right about Disney teenagers, I didn't think my DS 13 would want to come this time, but no way was he staying behind and I sat next to a lady on our coach who had her 15 year old son with her, he's been every year since he's been born, as she was with her sister and her 2 nieces it would've suited them for him to have stayed home, so they could've had 1 room not 2, but she said he was having none of it.
Maybe they enjoy the break from having to be cool and behave like kids again.;)

Just had to pop by and mention the fantastic idea I have had for The Christmas Present (where DD finds out she is going to DLP).

We have a couple of Disney woolly hats, one is Tigger and one is Winnie The Pooh, originally purchased at Disneyland California. Now I can think of nothing more 'insulting' to her than being given something she already owned, well we did say she wouldn't be getting much this year and we have to give her some things to open  , until of course she looks inside the hat and finds confirmation of a Eurostar booking for the next day!

I shall wrap the two hats up and DH can give me the other one, containing confirmation of the Holiday Inn booking, wonder how long it will take her to realise what's happening? :hyper2:

Poor DD!!!!!!!!!! Hope she looks inside and doesnt throw it away in disgust. Imagine her face though when she realises.

Ive had inspiration as well. We are going to buy DD a small suitcase or backpack and tell her to open it and look inside to see what its like and in there will be either a 'ticket' to DLP or if Ive time some clues for her to guess where shes off to

Isn't it fun planning how to spring the big surprise!?

We are still talking about the next time we are going, which will be Easter, she has no idea at all that she won't have to wait that long!

Meanwhile, DH and I talk about Boxing Day as if DD and I going to be here to have dinner with his father too, yeah right :rotfl2:

We are also the same talking about what we are going to do there at Easter whilst at the same time bursting to tell her shes going sooner and not being able to plan Christmas as the best thing about it is going to be the trip which is all lanned

I didn't realise you were going at Easter too, you aren't showing on the list of when everyone is going... What dates will you be there for Easter? Looks like we might both be there the same time on both trips :goodvibes

Think we might just miss you. Cant remember the exact date but I think we arrive at DLP on 25th - Tuesday. We are in France for 2 wks - at a nearby campsite first then a few days at Cheyenne. Will look up the exact dates and get it added to list. Also need to add our summer trip as that is booked as well.

Sounds like you will miss us then, we are there from 26th - 28th December, I realised yesterday that had we gone for Fantasy passes, then these days would not have allowed us access, once again I am so glad we went for Dream passes! Of course we will also be able to take advantage of EMH, since we are staying off site on this occasion, there were no Disney hotels available at all!

Okay, let's be forming an orderly queue behind kevankiki, first come first served to hide in the suitcase...

You'd have to be a contortionist to get into my case, we're travelling light :lmao:
