What have I done to my computer?

I have done something to my computer, I don't know what- BUT I can't get some pictures on most websites, just little red x's. I can't go through links or be transferred from one site to another. Most of the games my kids usually play aren't showing up. What have I done and how can I fix it???

- What is your web browser - Internet Explorer or something else ?

- Have you done anything recently to the settings on your web browser ?

- Have you recently installed any new software ?

- What do you see on the screen when try to go to you links ?

1. Grab a trash bag
2. Throw windows pc into the bag
3. Dispose of properly
4. Go buy an Apple

or just do a system restore by following these directions:

edit: and use http://www.mozilla.org/ instead of I.E. (probably the worst browser out there currently)

That happened to me when I increased my parental security settings and installed a firewall. You may need to check you settings and adjust.

Yes, IE

No, I have pressed the reset to defaults a couple of time hoping it would help.

- Have you recently installed any new software ?

Not that I am aware of, I did install the XP service pack 2 and somehow some java webstart thing has shown up on my desktop.

I get a "cannot find server message" or "action canceled"

I used to have a Mac, life was so much easier then....but not very many software options

You may want to UNINSTALL SP2. I have it on my laptop and it works great. I downloaded SP2 on my desktop downstairs and it caused all kinds of ruckus! I could not get online was the major issue. Comcast directed me to uninstall SP2. Did that and everything went back to working normal. They say SP2 still has bugs. Do you have Norton GoBack??

Well, I have downloaded another browser (Firefox)- which is great, but did not solve. I uninstalled SP2- still no fix. I tried turning off my firewall, that doesn't work. The main thing I am trying to do is access any disney website, like playhouse disney. I can go to a page that is linked from elsewhere but cannot go any further. It will not tranfer me from page to page,

Try emptying your cache, under "tools, options."
