Yes, indeed -- that is the biggest question of all, isn't it? What does happen when we die?

Well.....depending on things, either eternal or eternal

I think the answer to your main question is "no" -- but it will vary depending on where you live -- if you're in a community property state, it will fall to your husband to deal with, and in most other states it will also fall to your husband to have to deal with it. Your son would have to be on the deed to be involved at all in most cases. The automatic succession in probate is generally spouse, then children, etc. (not husband and son).

In the settlement of estates, people who have gotten along well until then often have disagreements. Strange things happen.

(Of course, in the vein of the funny reactions to your subject question -- "It won't matter to you -- it will be out of your hands." [If you haven't gotten it legally set up in a will or trust, or on the existing deed]).

Some here may argue that that depends on if you've:

a) used a refillable mug for more than one visit,
b) held a pool chair with a towel or other items for more than 15 mins, and,
c) ever smoked on a balcony
d) exceeded the occupancy rules
e) stayed off site and rode the buses from DTD
Etc....

So, should you list your DVC as a seperate asset in your will? My husband and I are leaving everything to our 2 DSs (which are 20 and 17) and I just want to make sure our membership goes to them.

Hopefully go to heaven and it's just like Disney with shorter lines and you get to stay in the best resorts for as long as you want, and it's all free!!!!!!!!!

When we added our two children and had a new deed drawn up and recorded, we were told that by listing all four of us as owners on that deed and then having it say

"as joint tenants with the right of survivorship and not as tenants in common"

then if any of of us were to die the remaining people would automatically get that person's interest in the membership witout needing a will or probate.

Well, we have five different contracts with DVC -- 2 at OKW, 2 at HH, and one at Vero Beach. Did add-on's at OKW and HH. I guess that we would have to have 5 deeds re-done which sounds too complicated and expensive to me. So we'll have to stick with the will thing and hope it works. We have only one daughter to inherit from us. Our son died 4 years ago, and she will get whatever we own when we are gone.
