Hi,

If you are staying at a hotel on the monorail, how do you get back to your hotel from Epcot or Magic Kingdom if there are problems on the monorail. Do they run buses or are you just out of luck and have to wait for them to fix it.

Thanks,
-Ed

the mk resorts also have boats or you can walk (CR) from the mk.

getting back from Epcot can be a problem - a big one.

this happened to us several years ago. we waited at Epcot for 2 long hours - the CM there tried to at least get a bus to TTC (they use to have a bus going back and forth between Epcot and TTC all the time). It did not happen.

after that time remember that we could take a bus to wl and a boat to CR.

so that is what we did.

others were taking a taxi back.

This wasn't coming back from one of the parks but in December 2009 my family and I were going from the Polynesian back to the Contemporary, however when we got to the Monorail entrance we were told the Resort line was down. The Cast Member advised us that we could walk to the TTC, get on the Express Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and from there walk back to the Contemporary. Instead we went to the Polynesian front desk and told them what happened and that we didn't want to take the other advice of the Cast Member, because we thought it would take to long. So what he was going to do was give us a taxi voucher so we wouldn't need to pay for it and he agreed with us for doing this. Well it turns out they were out of taxi vouchers so he told us to speak with a Cast Member at the Contemporary Lobby Concierge desk to get our money back for the taxi ride and if there was an issue he said have them call him at the Polynesian. Well when we told a Cast Member at the Contemporary what happened and etc he asked for the taxi receipt which was around $8.00 and took $10.00 off our total room bill, which was more then what wanted because we thought they would just give us the money back in cash.

Just like the PPs said, except we usually do cabs to all the other parks /resorts anyways. Just quicker.
And we love the boats. :goodvibes

One time when I was staying at GF we came out of MK to get the monorail, it was down, they directed us to busses.

We were exiting the MK before the MNSSHP, trying to get a bus to Caribbean Beach. The monorail was down, people were CRAZY! :crazy2: Every one was sort of standing in the front of the MK entrance, everyone was pushing. It was really scary! It was the first and last time (so far), but it was a real problem! My daughter was an infant in the coach, and I really was afraid that someone was going to knock the coach over. There were no cast members around and I really didn't feel safe. People were acting NUTS!

yea - most guests forget that the ferry can get them back to TTC. Polyn and GF have boats for the MK.

people will panic if they think they are stuck.

This happened to us on our way to Epcot in July of 2008 only we were ON it when it happened. We were still in the station at the TTC and they came on and said they were doing a 'routine safety check.' We stood there with no AC in the middle of July for over an hour! We were so hot and it was so hard to see the platform right there and have them not be able to let us out because there was no power. We were staying at the CR at the time and were so excited to have the monorail option to Epcot. Not so much after that experience :rolleyes1

Whenever the monorails or ferrys are unable to operate for whatever reason, they start running buses very soon afterward. It's done quite a bit if it's too windy or for a heavy rain storm. There are route names and bus stops already designated for such times.

We experienced this during our May 2010 trip. We were at MK and there was a 20 minute delay for the next monorail. We later found out that it was stuck at the Poly (I think that's the resort stop just before MK).

Anyhow, they finally got it moving and it went straight through MK to the TTC to be worked on.

Some people had decided to walk or catch a boat, but we hung around. It was about another 10 minutes until another monorail arrived at the MK stop and we were on our way.

This happened to my youngest DS when we were there in 05. He ended up walking to MK and taking a bus to BC to get to Epcot.

We must have been on that monorail! We boarded it at Epcot and it was barely creeping along. The people who had gotten on it at MK or TTC (not sure which) said it had taken 35 minutes to get to Epcot. Our trip to the TTC was very, very slow and they weren't allowing anyone to board it at the TTC as they were taken it to the "shop". Someone said something about a power issue but I'm not sure if they really knew. Whatever the cause, I really felt sorry for those people who were on it for an hour! One couple was trying to return to their hotel so their kids could nap but they had been on the monorail so long they just went back to MK.
