Posted this in trip reports but no responses and I'm genuinely curious:

So I attended mvmcp on 12/2 and yes it rained but aside from no tink and no 10:30 parade all went smooth. Had a blast!

Here's my question: upon leaving there was a line stretching from guest services all the way to almost the theatre (art store) what are these people doing? Are they mad at Disney for not closing the weather dome? What's the likely outcome? I asked a cm who basically said that there all wasting there time and there would likeky be no outcome as the party still happened. I think I was just shocked at the amount of people that lined up. And more surprised that It was allowed to happen, it seemed like more and more people lined up just because they saw a line on there way out and decided to join in.

Sometimes Disney will give guests passes to another party, but usually that means most of the events of party they were at was a rain out. I guess people think it doesn't hurt to ask.

Since you are genuinely curious I think you should have asked someone who was in the line what they were doing.
We can only speculate and guess what we think they may have been doing.

We went to MNSSHP in September. It started pointing around 10ish and they had to cancel the 2nd parade. I know many people reported getting tickets to another party.

I was there 12/2 as well. Missed Tink. Otherwise it was a great night. Lines weren't too long for the characters and rode a few rides. I will never do the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party again on a MVMCP night as it eats up too much time. I should have cancelled but my SIL was so excited about it.

Often people do indeed complain if some of the party specific events are cancelled, hoping for refunds or freebies. Usually as long as most of the party did happen, guest services won't do much beyond say "Sorry, we can't control the weather." In cases where the weather does cause the cancellation of say both parades and the fireworks, they have been known to issues refunds or tickets to another party.

I haven't seen a post this year, but in prior years people posted that they got tickets for another night or a 1 day ticket good anytime.

We were there as well and I am pretty sure that was the line to see Santa. I thought when I was walking out I saw him sitting right next to guest services, right where those bathrooms are.

Not 100% sure, but I think that is what the line was for.

When we went to MNSSHP a few years ago it started pouring at about 7:20. It was raining so hard I remember walking towards the HM from Frointerland and it was like a river coming down. All parades were cancelled and fireworks. It was such a mess at guest services that eventually CM's came by and told every Disney hotel guest to go to their concierge for a refund. We didn't wanted a refund we just wanted tickets for another day. The next morning the concierge had to give us money back and we had to pay for new tickets :confused3. It didn't made any sense to make two transactions, but oh well.

While we stood in line it was sad to hear from the people that was there last day there and they were going to miss the party. I totally get that Disney can't control the weather, but the whole thing was very poorly handle. People stood in line for 2 hours before they came up with a solution, by that time most people were really upset and everything had been cancelled. I felt so bad for the CM's that were getting yelled at while they were waiting for the management to make the decision.

I saw a lot of people in the customer service line ( out the door) and I wondered what they could possibly want that night. Yes it rained but I was satisfied with my experience. Maybe I was a little disappointed in the fact that Tink didn't come down (being on the terrace I thought my DGD would get a kick out if it. It never occurred to me to ask for a refund. I figured since most of the activities went off as planned it wasn't much to complain about.

I guess that's my thing with it all I was just shocked that that many people were storming the gates pitchforks and all because 1/2 parades was canceled due to something outside of disneys control.

I know what they were doing it was a more tactful way of asking why?

I was there on 12/2 as well. I saw the huge line and asked someone what they were waiting for. They issued new tickets for either the Thursday or Friday event! We had to wait over an hour in line but got an extra party ticket. We changed our schedule and attended the Thursday night event.

They cancelled the 2nd parade and all later stage shows on 12/2. At the time, we were disappointed because we planned on seeing the second parade. I was second guessing myself, that we should have attended the 1st parade.

So, we went again on Thursday and really enjoyed the parade. I feel like I got a deal (paying once and going twice).

It did not seam like people were upset in line. I think we all liked the idea of getting an extra ticket.

The one time I went to the Magic Kingdom on Xmas day it rained so hard the afternoon parade was cancelled. Upon leaving the MK there was a huge line at Guest Services. Most likely they did want some form of compensation for the parade being cancelled on Christmas Day, even though it was obvious that they could not hold the parade in that downpour. It really did look like the guests were storming GS.

Wow - here I was thinking they were waiting to see Santa! It never occurred to me to go and ask for another ticket for a different night. I stayed until the end and enjoyed the evening, even with the rain. I always thought the ticket was non-refundable even due to weather so like I said, it never occurred to me to ask for a ticket for another night.

If they cancelled the second parade and some of the events I would want a refund or at least a partial refund. I am spending $400 on tickets for MVMCP and would be unhappy if it was rained out. They are calling for rain for the date we have right now. I am hoping that changes.

We were there on the 2nd as well and saw the huge line as we were leaving. I kinda had a hunch that it was people asking for refunds/tickets. It was pretty miserable out if you weren't prepared for it. But on the plus side, we walked right into Space Mountain and there was NO one around until we go all the way right to the ride vehicles and the atmosphere on the Jingle Cruise was completely different in the dark & rain. Ponchos saved us!

We threw on some ponchos as well and had a blast! Although BTMR after a good rain is CRAZY fast!

I was at the sold out Thursday Dec. 4th party.

I spoke to several families who were at the Dec 2nd party and didn't get to see the parade because they were waiting until the 10:30p parade which got cancelled.

So they went and stood in the line at guest relations to complain and were comped tickets to the Dec 4th party which is one main reason why that party sold out.

All 3 families I spoke to were there on Dec. 4th to see the parade and fireworks and then were going to leave because they said they had done everything else they wanted on Dec. 2nd.

The park was pretty empty after the fireworks so I had a nice time.
