I may have to postpone our August trip to Dec. or even June due to my mom's health issues. My package is paid in full. Will they refund me all but the $200 deposit( to put on the Dec. or June package)? I really don't want disney to have thousands of my dollars for that many months. I'm just changing the dates, not cancelling. Thanks.

Call and talk to them...a reschedule may not be a big problem.

Thanks. Has anyone else done this and what happened? I really don't want to get a CM on the phone that does't know what he/she is doing. I've had some bad experiences with CMs that are very unknowledgeable.

We did it years ago, postponed the trip a full year ahead. It was within our 45 day window so if we'd asked for a cancellation we would have been out $400.00 (2 room deposits) so we just rescheduled. They just moved our deposits and all our payments to the next reservation. If you were going to cancel and reschedule and were outside your 45 day window, it wouldn't be an issue. But since you said your paid off trip is next month, I'm guessing you're inside that window....where if you cancelled you'd lose your deposit?

In that event, I don't think they can give you back any of your money without you losing that initial room deposit of $200.00 per room. That would require cancelling and rebooking, if you're willing to lose that $200.00 per room deposit you can do that and you'll get a refund on the balance though.

As everyone mention since you have another future trip they should apply it to that. If you get a CM that doesn't know what they are doing just say I want to speak to a guest relation CM & be firm about it but nice. I have had several of CM that messed up my trips but I told them that it was wrong please transfer me and they did.

I had to do this back in 2008 when my MIL passed away & our trip was a week away. They were very nice about it and moved my dates to when we could go and transfer the money.

Good luck & hope your Mom will get better. :)

I think the OP wanted to know if she could get a refund minus the deposit though.....or that's the way I read it. I don't know any CM that can do that, if you want a refund you'll have to take a hit on the deposit and cancel your original August trip then rebook when you can go and pay another deposit.

They will have no trouble transferring your deposit and all your payments to your future reservation, but it won't involve a refund unless your package price is less and then you'll probably incur the change fee for lowering your package price.

I agree with the pp that rescheduling the trip will not be a problem, but getting back all of the money paid minus the deposit on the new dates might pose a problem. If you really want to try and get back everything except the deposit, I would call and ask to speak with someone in guest services from the start. If something like that is possible, guest services would be the ones to have the authority to do that over a regular reservation CM. If it turns out that guest services isn't able to change dates, apply the deposit to the new reservation and refund you the difference, you can always cancel and rebook, as the pp mentioned. Good luck.

We had to do this last year. I had to call and move my trip hours before we were supposed to leave (we had a death in the family). I called them and explained the situation, and they were very willing to work with me. I *think* they offered to refund it to me (as you can imagine, it was an extremely emotional time, so I don't remember the specifics of the conversation), but we just had them move the trip to the same week this year.

I had to cancel a paid in full package due to my husband having a serious accident 13 days before the trip. Disney refunded all of my money including Christmas party tickets except for the $200 deposit. The great part was that he wasn't even going on the trip and they still refunded my money! I was really surprised and grateful that I got my party ticket money back. I even offered to provide documentation of the accident but they didn't need it.
