We live in the UK and fly out to stay at SSR in 3 days. At the moment the UK is experiencing severe weather (ie snow - which we never seem to be able to cope with!!!) and the major airport (London Gatwick) we are due to fly from is closed and has been for the last 36 hours!!!! More heavy snow is predicted overnight and Gatwick is not due to open until 10am tomorrow at the absolute earliest.
If our flights are cancelled on Saturday and we can't be rebooked quickly (DH is only staying for a week so almost not worth flying 9 hours each way for a few days), can we cancel our stay at this late stage and retain our points? I had assumed we would just lose them but I have read another post which suggests that points could go in to holding.
I never dreamed that we might be in this position so hadn't really thought about this possibility - can anyone offer me any words of advice? Many thanks!
