We may be cancelling (or possibly only changing) a trade of a few days we made into RCI for next July.

What is the cancellation policy?
If we cancel before 31 days do the points go back into our use year as regular points, holding points, or reservation points? Do we only have to use them on non DVC properties?

Thanks

If you have already made the reservation, your points are committed to the World Passport Collection and can only be used for another RCI reservation (and another $95 fee). They will not be returned to your DVC account and cannot be banked or used for DVC or other non-DVC reservations.

As noted, you will not get your points back. You will have 2 years from the date of the week DVC gave to II to book AND travel. Also as noted, you will have to pay another fee. IF you cancel, make sure you put in an ongoing search to find a reasonable replacement week.

ETA: That has been the rule but reviewing the recent info it appears that they are working for RCI points (not DVC points) and if so, the travel must occur by Dec, 31 of the following year. If that's true, it MAY be beneficial to wait until 1 Jan if you do have to cancel.
