What happens to Cat. 1 seating if we use Dining Plan?

Hi - We are still undecided whether we will go for the Dining Plan. We have been to Disney a million times, and never used the Dining Plan. This year we decided to go to Cinderella's Royal Table for my daughter's 6th Birthday Then we thought, hmm, the luau seems cool and we have never done that. . . . Then we heard about the Hoop Dee Doo and thought, hmm . . . . if we do all that stuff, then the Dining Plan may make sense.

We are really undecided here, but JUST IN CASE, I made reservations at the Spirit of Aloha and the Hoop Dee Doo for us. We booked Cat. 1 for both shows. If we end up doing the DP, I see they only allow Cat. 2 or 3. So, what happens? Do we lose our Cat 1 reservations and get seated in the other categories? Do we get the money refunded? if so, when?

I have no idea about any of this, so your input is really appreciated. Thanks!!

If the DDP only covers cats 2 and 3 (HDDR covers cat 1 for the late show) and you have booked a seating with Cat 1 then your credit card will most likely be charged the full amount for the show. You might want to reconsider and rebook with cat 2 seats, or for HDDR, rebook for the last show so the Cat 1 is included.

Keep in mind that HDDR, CRT and the Luau all use 2 TS credits per person for each one. So it actually may not be the best deal, you might want to check the math on that. Sometimes it's better to pay OOP for one too, and save the credits for another meal. Just something to consider!

Thanks for the thought - We are considering the Deluxe plan, so it would be 3 TS meals per day plus snacks- THat is a LOT of food! We would never be able to eat heavy three times a day, plus we arrive late and depart early, so the two credit meals actually work out perfect for us. We will be there five days four nights, so that's 12 meals - The shows and CRT will take 6 of those. The Character Breakfasts will take 4 and then we have two random meals that we can use if we are hungry inbetween - I cant imagine being hungry! the plan is to have a later character breakfast and early dinner shows a couple of days between the breakfast buffets and all you can eat dinners, i think we will stay more than full! This is a once in a blue moon thing we are doing. We normally take a small cooler and pack in lunch and snacks so the prospect of all this eating is kind of funny to us!

Cat 1 is only included on the DDP for the last show of the night while Cat 2 and 3 are included for the earlier shows. If Cat 1 isn't allowed for your preferred show, Disney won't arbitrarily move you to a different category. If you want to use credits it will be up to you to call and cancel Cat 1 and book Cat 2 or 3 seats or switch to the last show. Your money will be refunded at that time.

They will still need your cc number to guarantee your res. If you fail to cancel within the allowable time frame (48 hours in advance of the show, I believe) or are a no show, the credit card will be charged the full amount of the reservation.
