What happens to BW points on 1/31/2042?

I don't know what you mean by freebie but I got park tickets from day of purchase to 12/31/99. I think they were free.

Nah, they weren't really free. They may have been comped for you for those years but somebody foot the bill. My comment was more directed to the general idea that when DVC was created the specifically designated end date may have been included for a variety of reasons. Whatever does happen on that date will not create a financial loss for DVC. Their management wizards will concoct a scheme to separate us from our money, willingly, begging for more.

Do you mean to say that I could not make a reservation in December 2041 for SSR use in June 2042? I have used the points before they expire. If not OH WELL
I think it's very likely that trades will be blocked near the end of the contract, both ways. But the reality is that everyone will be using their 11 month window to try to use whatever last points they have so the 7 month window is unlikely to be helpful. But time will tell.

If everybody keeps their contracts, their won't be enough units to go around for everyone to get full points in 2041, but do you think that everyone will? A lot of the people that bought them will be dead, and as much as their children will want to keep them, the last few years the membership dues may be so high that people don't see the value of paying them for the last couple of years and they just "let them go." I don't know if that will happen, but I'm guessing it might. It's one thing to pay dues now when you have years and years to use the points, but it might be another thing to people if the dues are high enough that they could go on vacation for about what the dues would cost anyway, and they would only have the points for a year or two more. I'm not sure if I'm explaining that well, but I think there may be people who just let their points go at the end.
I agree that someone will be paying those dues. Either DVD will resell them or rent out the units. Either way our fees will go up as DVC doesn't pay maint fees currently or likely ever. Plus even though I did mention it, I don't think enough people will bail to fix this potential problem. Of course this should be somewhat balanced by the fact that little long term maint and no reserves should be needed the last year or so.

I have a December U/Y and asked my guide this question a few years ago. I was told that my last points would be received in December 2041 and I would still have the year to use them. DVC does not dissapear, rather stops issuing points on then end date.
And I'll respect you in the morning! This is simply nuts, did you really believe the guide? While I don't think it will happen, there is the possibility that the dates will be extended to 2054, but the problem will be the same, just delayed. But if enough people default, that will nix this possibility in a hurry and DVC will become the treehouse villas all over again.
