What happens to AP park reservations tied to a hotel stay if you cancel hotel?

I’ve got an upcoming trip where we are considering cancelling the disney hotel and staying offsite. What happens to the park reservations we’ve already made that are tied to an annual pass, but part of the resort only pool? I’m assuming they’re cancelled? The park we have for a few of the days is sold out now so that’s going into my calculation on whether or not ot stay offsite. Thanks in advance!

They won't be cancelled.
What if they booked park reservations as resort guests rather than APs? Could that put them in danger of being cancelled?

APs are limited to 3 park reservations. If their hotel stay was longer than that, what happens even if they booked them as AP?

Yeah, I booked them as a resort guest. I have an incredipass so I'm limited to 5, not 3, but I didn't use those 5 because I was staying onsite. I now can't switch them to those 5 because parks are sold out for some of those dates (at least per the calendar). It's during Christmas week.

Due to international travel restrictions I have had a number of cancelled trips and the APRs I made for length of stay have remained in MDE even though the resort reservations were cancelled. I had to cancel them myself. Obviously, I haven’t tried to use the APRs, so I don’t know if park entry would be allowed.

Thanks!

No, AP's limits vary from pass to pass now. I get 5.

The park reservations were still not cancelled even though it was over 5. However, it wouldn't let me make anymore and held me to the pass limit (ie, it wouldn't let me cancel #6 and book another day because that would have been over my limit for an offsite stay).

So far the experience seems to be that they don't delete. However, we had a glitch about a month ago or so where my DW's AP disappeared for a few days and she received some emails warning her that her park reservations may be deleted. It didn't come to that and we rectified the AP issue in time (somebody with the same name somehow was assigned hers).

We were just in this situation. Not only do you have to cancel the park reservations but also ADR's. If you've an ADR in a park the system won't cancel (even though it looks like it has been cancelled) the park reservation until the ADR's been cancelled. When I cancelled the ADR the previously cancelled park reservation disappeared.
