your pick which is a "1 point" meal to a 2 point meal? (assuming you did NOT want it as a 2 pointer)?

Do you mean like a 1 credit meal is now 2 credits? You’ll still have your reservation, so if you don’t want it, you’ll have to cancel.

Which restaurant is this?

I'm guessing BOG. There are rumors flying but nothing firm.

I only said 'if', I am not aware of any that will. However, if a restaurant DID, while we would still have the ressie, the problem then becomes that people are basically left 'out in the cold' even if they stll have the reservation if they do not want to pay 2 credits

I doubt this would happen. I think changes like that would come when the restaurants update each year with the new yearly dining plan, otherwise, I think Disney Customer Service would have to deal with an uprising of dissatisfied folks.

The only one that I recall changing since I started obsessing over Disney planning (i.e. the last 5 years) was Le Cellier lunch went from 1 to 2 credits and I believe from the effective date of the change, you were charged 2 credits regardless of when you made the ADR. You of course always have the option to cancel. I remember shortly after that change it was quite easy to pick up a LC ADR for lunch.

Yes! I was about to mention that one. That’s the only one I can recall personally. People were upset, but their menu changed as well as the price. A restaurant can set their own pricing, I just hope they let guests know beforehand.

No one is "left out in the cold". Pricing can change at any time, and if someone doesn't want to use 2 dining credits, they can choose to pay cash or cancel the reservation. A restaurant wouldn't go from 1 credit to 2 credits without some advance notice, there would be some sort of "As of X date, X restaurant will be 2 credits on the dining plan".

When you made the reservation, you agreed to the Guest Policies. If you made the reservation online, you actually clicked on a box which states you read and agree to the Guest Policies. One of those stated policies is, "Menu Items, Pricing, and Hours are subject to change without notice." So, WDW is under no obligation to do anything if they decide to change the menu, pricing or hours at any time. It would be up to the ADR holder to decide if they want to keep the ADR or not.

Look at it this way: Le Cellier first was a 2 credit meal. If you booked then you were booking a 2 credit, but it did drop to 1. Boom! You saved a credit. Now it is back to 2, but for years it stayed a 1 credit.

If you book a restaurant your choice is based on a multitude of reasons: price, number of credits, menu options, characters, etc. If there are changes you decide if the value is still tehthe for you. If so you keep it, if not let it go.

They published 2018 dining plan info already so you do not need to worry about this. Also I don’t see them making bog a 2 credit meal - not unless beast and belle visit tables - and even then I think logistics and experience doesn’t justify it.

Still need to worry. The Le Cellier change talked about upthread was done in the middle of the year. They can change things at ANY time.

Basically, if it goes to two credits, your choices are pay 2 credits, pay cash, or cancel. if you cancel, you find somewhere else to eat.

Disney is not on the hook for these kinds of changes, or changing park hours, or whatever.
I understand, but what if you just happen to be unlucky and the MAKE THE CHANGE RIGHT BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED ADR? If you do not want to spend the cash or credits it could be TOO LATE to cancel with any hope of finding another decent ADR that you want.

They aren't going to switch it hours before your ADR. They will announce the change at least 24 hrs in advance, and probably more than that. You will have time to cancel. Finding another decent ADR you want could be a problem, but that's life.

LeCellier's dinner went from 1 to 2 credits with more than 6 months notice. That effectively prevented people with ADR's from suddenly finding that they had to cough up another dining credit. I expect that they would do the same if they were planning on doing another similar change.

I think the BOG rumor is just a rumor. Recognize that there is no signature dining experience with a QS lunch offering at the same location, so they'd likely have to change lunch to table service. This isn't something they would just announce one day. It would take a lot of lead time, significant planning, re-training of the staff, and infrastructure changes (moving the soda fountains, for example) to happen. So, don't count on BOG becoming a signature restaurant any time soon.

You would have at least 24 hours notice and not get charged the cancel. You could then go do walk-up at the Plaza or get in at Skipper Canteen, which is pretty easy to get last minute.

Or you could pay for one person with credits and one with cash. If the cash outlay is a big problem, you may be overspending on the vacation to start with to not have a margin for error.

To be fair, there's no regular TS restaurant that also offers QS lunch at the same location either, so I'm not sure why they'd have to change lunch to TS.

Also...why would the soda fountains have to be moved? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I don't remember (maybe there are, I just don't remember) any fountain machines in the main ballroom. The only time we've eaten in the Ballroom, we sat right next to the door going into the West Wing and just went in there to get our drinks. Maybe they would just curtain off the West Wing and the Music Box room, since all those extra seats aren't necessary for a signature restaurant.

Not saying it will become a signature, but if it does not, I doubt it would be for the reasons you listed.

They aren't going to make the change at the moment you walk up to the podium . . . if you are this worried about it, don't make the ADR where you are imagining this is going to happen. There are zero guarantees. We all know BOG is not taking ADR's for July and beyond. There are rumors swirling, but no one knows why. If you are THIS concerned, I would highly suggest you reserve elsewhere. BOG dinner is not good enough to stress this much over.
