:rotfl: I've wondered the same thing...that's not exactly the answer I wanted to hear though, ROFL!

Don't know but I'm sure hoping I get a chance to do one on Thanksgiving Day!!!! I promise I won't overstay my time period. Just a quick run in and grab a few things. Please let there be a store open at noon on T-Day!!!!

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO SPEND ANYMORE TIME THAN 30 MIN WHEN YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO DISNEY?:jumping1:

DOPEY SHARON YOUR REPLY WAS TOO FUNNY :rotfl:

HAVE A DISNEY DAY

I can't imagine you needing more than half an hour to do your shopping.

Make a list in advance. Have everything organzied by item type, frozen foods with same, dairy grouped together, etc. By doing this it never took me more than about twenty minutes. If DH and I split the list we were normally in and out in 10-15.

If you go a few minutes over, I'm sure it's not going to be a huge deal, but I would tip extra.

You certainly should increase your tip. You may be charged, Cartier says the charge is $25 and at one time one of the companies (Tiffany?) had a timed charge listed in their website.

Anne is right you should have your list organized. Remember if you go over the driver may be late for his next customer.

We had a hard time keeping our grocery stop limited to 30 minutes:

1) We don't normally shop at home, we have our groceries delivered - making even our local grocery stops time consuming.

2) When we do shop at home, our grocery store was laid out very differently.

3) Some of the things we wanted turned out to be regional - couldn't find them in the store in Florida and spent time looking for it.

4) We were shopping for other people that were in the Towncar with the kids - ("they don't have that brand, this brand or that brand for your Mom?" "Do you suppose this is ok, or do you think she wants to go without?")

5) The first three loaves of bread we picked up were mouldy - so we were extra careful with expiration dates, etc.

6) We ended up with the most interesting check out team. The woman ringing was too busy talking to the other clerk to ring quickly and didn't seem to speak English. But that was ok, the 142 year old man bagging the groceries was having trouble keeping up with her glacial speed. We bought about 40 items - we had 26 little plastic bags!

I don't know its exact location, but the Alberstons we used had a fax-ahead option, where we printed out a list off the internet, and faxed it to them a couple days before our trip. When we got there, I went to the customer service counter & told them my name & they went & got my whole cart out of the refrigerator.

There were a couple of items wrong, so I would just recommend bringing a copy of your list & double checking it before you check out.

They also ask if you will accept substitutions, which helps if they don't have the same brand you are looking for.

We don't have Albertsons in NJ, but what was nice is that they are a sister company of Acme, so we were able to show our Acme card & get the sale prices.

one idea that may be helpful is to ask the driver which stop he/she knows is good, as long as it's not Goodings prices will be pretty close among the various grocers. At least this way if you are a few minutes past the 1/2 hour at least it was due to their suggestion. Actually, we have done this the past few trips and the driver on our last trip handed us a grocers card to use for the in-store discounts, he loaded our groceries in and out of the towncar...now THAT'S when MY vacation started!:p We use Cartier, but many co's are just as helpful. Remenber, they have other guests to transport, so if you are over the time limit it is costing them $...we also split up , DH takes his list(beer, chips, snacks  ) and I get the produce/dairy/kid stuff. It works out well.

That was how we got to the store with the mouldy bread and the bag boy who'd served in the Civil War. With Cartier by the way. However, for all my gripes about Cartier (and their choice in grocery stores was the smallest issue), they took those 26 little plastic bags in stride and loaded them all up without a word.

I love the Albertson's fax ahead idea, and am considering that for next time. But, realistically, given what we actually ate, we might pack a suitcase with most of it from home, and pick up eggs and milk and half and half at the Screen Door.

Tip big!

When you go in just have a list, and move quickly. On my first trip, with my first grocery stop, I knocked right up to 30 minutes. I thought I had plenty of time and started moving very slowly, trying to find things, etc. I found by the end I was RUNNING. Also, don't leave things for the grocery stop you can get at home. This might seem like a no-brainer, but since I knew I had a grocery stop I decided to use that to get a couple of things I hadn't had a chance to pack (suncreen, etc.) Try to avoid this. It can take a while to hunt things down in an unfamiliar store.

The last few trips I fly through the aisles and am usually back in the car in under 15 minutes. Apples! Bananas! Juice! Sodas! Beer! Cereal! Doughnuts! Saltines! Bottled Water! Chips! Salsa! We're outta here!
