What happens if you send out an incomplete money order?

My DH won an auction on E-bay for a Disneyland pin last week. The seller only takes money orders, cashiers checks, etc. so we decided to pay by money order. DH has never dealt with the paying end of an auction and always has me handle it. Well he had today off from work so he said that he would get the money order at the post office and mail it.

Well I just found out that he got the money order and put the whole thing in the envelope and mailed it. He didn't fill out anything and he didn't keep our portion. I am really frustrated because he is always doing things like this!

Does anyone know what will happen now? Can the seller use it? Since we don't have a receipt what will happen?

I would e-mail the seller and explain your hubby's actions

The seller can fill it in and probably will. You husband should be able to go back to the place he bought the money order to get the number and other info needed for tracking. I've had to go back and retreive this type of info before for customers and never had a problem doing it.

I agree...make sure the seller knows that the payment is on the way and if he could just mail the receipt back and if there's any problem cashing it to mail the whole thing back.

If he goes back to check on the money order number from the P.O., he needs to do it immediately. We don't usually keep the vouchers for long (In my case I send mine to my supervisor at another station). Also, we don't keep the full ten numbers on the M.O. on any receipts. The voucher and your receipt are the ONLY ones with the full ten numbers.
Good luck with it. And, yes the seller can just fill in their name and address and cash it.

I think the seller will have no problem cashing the money order so I'm guessing all will be fine. I would email them ahead of time about the situation though.

Now when you get the pin mailed back, you can also get the receipt as well.

No worries, with the exception that he may try to write something illegal... like the amount. But there is a machine written area that would be considered the "legal" amount.

I've done that before!! DH was ready to kill me. The seller just filled it in and I got my stuff with no problem. If the seller has good feedback don't worry about it.
