What happened to the ticket sticky? I haven't been here in a while but I could swear there used to be a thread that gave info for every possible ticket question you could possibly dream up and then some. Is there a new go to place that I am missing?

There used to be one. It became just a regular thread though when the information became outdated and unfortunately ChesireFigment, the author, passed away.

Yep.

But Cheshire's info has stayed in our minds, and many here can answer the questions thanks to his info over the years. I'm sure people here would be happy to answer your questions.

Cheshire will be missed in many ways, but probably the one that we will notice the most often will be for his excellent ticket info thread. That has been a staple of the DIS for as long as I have been a member here. I couldn't even hazard a guess as to how many Disney World guests have been helped by his information over the years!

Mike, along with all his very helpful information and insights, is certainly missed by us all. He was a treasure here.

For reference, here is a link to that long running thread. Though some of the information, mostly pricing, is out of date, much (most) of it still holds true. If you have a question about something in specific covered in Mike's thread, just ask here on the board, someone will have the answer.

I have never been to WDW and I am wondering if you can add a day to a ticket. I have friends who have 3 day tickets and if they wanted an extra day could they add it on the last day before the ticket booth closed.

Yes, they can add a day on that last day.

It's also been reported additional days can be added within the 14-day time period that the ticket is valid even if all ticket entitlements have been used. I believe @Robo has more precise info on this.

We've always completed upgrades before our last full day in the parks has ended.

It's sad that Cheshire passed away and also that the thread passed with him. It was a valuable source of information.

The information I was looking for was as follows. I am in possession of 4 2-day base tickets, 3 adult and 1 child. I am looking for the cost to upgrade those tickets to 5 or 6 day PH upon or after my arrival for a last minute trip in February. I wanted to also weigh the scenario of possibly getting AP's instead. We are planning to book a 10-day or more trip in late August once the school calendars for 2016-2017 have been released and the discounts for that time have been determined. I have not yet decided which resort we will stay at for the August trip. Resort choice would have an effect on the number of park days needed as well as the fact that we would need the and more option in addition to the PH.
All of these things were covered in the old thread but the information is no longer valid due to price and benefit changes.

Any MYW ticket can be upgraded within 14 days of first use. There are no exceptions, other than those discussed in the next paragraph. This applies even if the ticket has the No Expire Option. If the first day of use is a Sunday, the last time an upgrade or modification may be done is 11:59:59pm of the second Saturday.

In addition, effective August 1, 2011, if you have used all of your entitlements on a ticket the last day of use of entitlements is also the last day that you can do any sort of upgrade. So if you had a four day ticket and your fourth day of use was a Friday, from Saturday onward you cannot do any upgrade even though it is within the 14 day period.

Well, the current cost of the tickets you currently have is $804.08. (It doesn't matter what you paid for them, only what the current gate price is.) The current cost of 4 5-day park hoppers is $1593.26 and 6-day park hoppers would be $1635.86. (All prices include tax and are for 3 adult and 1 child ticket.) So the cost to upgrade to 5-day park hoppers is $789.18 and to 6-day park hoppers is $831.78.

Thanks for the info. I will try to figure out the AP portion of the equation before arrival.

Once you pass through a turnstile once with the tickets, when you go to upgrade them they should be worth the current-that-day cost of that ticket. So then you just subtract that from the total cost of what you're upgrading to.

Now, this is dependent on the CM "bridging" the tickets you have to that day's price. So you want to know the cost of the upgrade (per ticket and total...when I did this, I actually wrote it all down because math when I'm at a themepark is impossible). If they give you a higher price, ask if they've bridged the tickets. If they didn't and won't, just take the tickets back and try again later or at a different place. A dis veteran just yesterday or so had to keep pushing the CM to check with her supervisor. 3 different times the CM had to check because she kept saying "no" when the answer was absolutely "yes", the CM just didn't realize it.

I remember this being an issue a while back and was addressed in the "sticky" thanks for the reminder. This kind of advice is what makes this board so awesome!
