What happened to the Rewards Board?

When I first started rewards (about a year ago) the Rewards Board used to be an invaluable source of information for me. It was so great to come here for info on good crediting offers and worthwhile trials. You could also find out things to steer clear of.

I know some of the rewards programs started their own forums but there are alot of things that we need to know that cannot be discussed on them. They are great for friendly chit chat and talk about how great this or that offer or this trial turned out to be BUT, where does one go now to find out what offers are a waste of time? Or what trials turn out to be a problem to cancel? Where did everyone go?:confused3

I think the SR people have moved to their own forum. I know that there is also a blog on QR that tracks crediting offers.

Another board that I enjoy is BigBigForums.

Go to the Reward Program Discussions.

That should keep you busy for a while. :goodvibes

I miss the way it used to be and still check back hoping to see it the way it was....guess I just don't like change. :confused3 This is where I was the most comfortable...

I feel the same way, but I have also noticed that people don't ask questions here as often as they used to.

I know. There are usually only about 4-5 posts here per day, usually having to do with trivia answers and guess the number. I used to feel like I had a lot of "friends" here that posted all the time and where you could go for info on offers, etc. It made it much easier for me to have it all here in one place....

I really think that people have been made fearful and, therefore, silenced with all the "fraud" warnings. I fully understand how rewards program owners have to protect their advertisers, without advertisers there would be no programs.

Yet, people have to understand that, we are also instrumental to the success of these programs, after all, without our time and hard work, there would be no money coming in... advertisers or not. I'm sometimes amazed to see the excessive "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You's" (on the forum of one program in particular.) I often wonder; "Whoa... would these people say that to their employer when picking up their paycheck?"

I have to be honest, when I read warning... "cancellations cannot be discussed" or warning... "offers that do not credit" cannot be discussed, my first thought is; "Hey! Who is protecting me?" We use to protect ourselves here on "The Dis." We were our own little labor union. That is why it is so sad to see it go.

Very well said.

One thing to keep in mind is that rewards site owners are responsible for what is posted in their blogs and forums, even if the site owners do not themselves post it. So if our advertisers tell us "Do not tell members how to cancel" and one of our members posts it in our blog or our forum, we can lose the money for every single person that signed up for that offer. And maybe lose the advertiser permanently. So SR, QR, TreasureTrooper, CD (all of us that have places where users interact) have to be VERY careful about what is posted. The advertisers are so hard on us that most of the big point/rewards sites don't even offer forums or blogs where members can post this kind of thing.

Personally, I don't post as much here just because I find myself working more and more hours as the economy gets worse. But I come and lurk and keep an interest in what everyone is up to. :)

Not to mention that none of the owners control what you guys post on DIS so it really isn't any of their faults that people stopped posting that info on here. That is totally on the posters. I think that everyone just found "homes" on other forums for the websites they do most often. I know I check this one a couple times a week but for the most part I only participate in the sections of DIS that I still get information from. The fact that everyone stopped posting is not the fault of anyone. I think that there is at least one owner who is banned from posting here so that cut back on some of the postings for their site. The members of SR I know post on the forum over there and as far as the forum over there being about a bunch of "Thank you" posts perhaps it is because the owner is going above and beyond and not merely giving the member credits they earned. Another issue is that I don't think people are doing as many of those paid trial offers. I know I am not. It isn't worth it for me to do one I don't really want just to make a few bucks and take a chance that the advertiser will find fraud somewhere and revoke my credits. That isn't the owners faults. It is the advertisers. I say if you want things to be the way they used to be then make them that way by making posts about the offers you want info on. I am quite certain people will respond about them and banter will start up again. HTH!

To be honest I just don't have time to post on multiple sites about the same things. I post on the reward program boards that I participate in their programs about things and that's about it. I had an unexpected promotion at a very intense time at my job so I'm putting in more hours for work which means less time playing around on reward sites. I also have found other interests and so I joined other message boards and started a blog which have taken time away from here. I'm sure some of the others that use to be on here had similar things happen and just have run out of time to post all over the internet.

lilstint, I agree with your feelings to a great extent.

However, I think if you look, at least on the boards of the site represented in recent posts on this thread, that you CAN find out when something is just NOT crediting. Look around over there, and you'll see "warning" posts for truly problematic offers, etc. You'll also see posts about disappointment, and inside you can sometimes find answers (a recent one where we discovered that a few offers were actually manual credits is an example...those of us expecting it to credit immediately were sad, but then happy to find out it was done "by hand", because all is not lost if it's done manually).

You do have to be careful how you say things, and yes, there are forbidden topics, but it's not ALL just happy happy joy joy. :upsidedow

All that said, if you have questions about an offer, is there anything stopping us from posting the question here? And if you were to post such a question, others might answer, others might post a question here, others might answer, and it might become something more, again, than just the QR info area (I quit QR long ago so I notice and am bugged by those abdundant threads, LOL). :goodvibes

Speaking as one who was made fearful, I'm going to agree that this was very well said! :thumbsup2 I completely agree and understand exactly what you are saying!

What happened to the RP boards? You should have been around here a few years back when the RP Bad Girls Club was in action! FUN! I've long since deleted my tag but I was always proud to be a founding member. Most, if not all the girls, have moved on. Those were the days!
