What happened to the peacocks?

When we were at FW in '03, there were several peacocks hanging around the Pioneer Hall area. One of them was white.

Now we can't find any of them. What happened to them?

They were taken to Animal Kingdom. Apparently a combination of noise complaints and concern for their safety caused Disney to round them up and take them over to the Animal Kingdom to live.

Followup question: Are the peacocks visible to guests in AK, or are they just kept "in the back"?

The peacocks moved to our house.

lol, just kidding, actually we do have wild peacocks in our neighborhood, in fact throughout Florida there are pockets of wild peacocks, and they will just congregate in specific areas. Our wild peacocks NEVER go outside our neighborhood, I guess it's their "home".

And yea, the rumours go from noise complaints to attacking small children (which I doubt but I guess could happen if the children cornered them). I would probably think the noise complaints would be the biggest one, they make VERY loud cawing sounds.

In fact, peacocks are considered watchdogs in areas where they are located, because they will all start cawing whenever there is some kind of activity. More than once I have heard them in the middle of the night only to look out and see someone walking down the street. Pretty cool actually.

The turkey legs at MK seem a little smaller than they did in 2003......

And why do the new "chicken" wings look like rabbit feet? Hmmmmmmmm.....

I ate them LOL:rotfl2: Just kidding!!!!

The peacocks were found with the refillable mugs from All Star sports and their chicks were driving the golf carts recklessley while smoking. So they whacked them.

LOL

I thought maybe they ran short on chicken for the BYBBQ or HDDR.

When we asked, we were told that not only were they a noise problem, they were attacking peoples cars and trailers, scratching the paint and the like.

It doesn't surprise me much as my Sister has neighbors with peacocks and they are quite annoying.

Pretty though.

When we were on Everest today I could hear them kahhhing. LOL. Please don't judge me on my spelling of animal sounds. I did hear them though.

Hey, Colson,

Do you think you could wrangle a few and take them to the Ft. when you have drinks with Stacktester? I really miss them. There is a wild turkey that walked the 1700 loop last summer. He (or she) would just walk down the middle of the road like it was perfectly normal :confused3 . Logan, my youngest, started yelling "cockpea, cockpea, the cockpeas are back!". I guess at the ripe old age of 4, it did look like a peacock coming down the road.:rolleyes1
Just need to add that she has called them cockpeas since she saw the first one. She loves them and, of course, the awsome orangebidillos. :lmao:

Believe it or not I ave seen them go after kids that weren't bothering them. We were waiting for the bus one trip and this little kid was in his stroller and his parents were looking the other way...along trots one of the peacocks..walks up to the stroller and promptly bit the kid on the hand. We had to yell at the parents to look at their kid since we were afraid it would go after his face!

I've seen plenty of times where the kids provoke the poor things, but more and more they just come up and peck and peck at little ones!
