What happened to Barb?

So I noticed Barb became a travel agent, started advertising on her site, now her URL is banned from this board (wiped out with *** anytime it's posted), and she hasn't posted in a few weeks.

What gives? She's been a valuable asset to us and to this board regardless of her business aspirations.

Yeah i miss her too, last time i posted a link to her site , i got a message off the disboard moderator with a bit of a telling off, i think it's because these boards are sponsored by DU so are in direct competition with other TA's.
Anyway Barb if you do see these messages good luck with your new venture.

1) whoever gives them the best Price,
2) whoever gives them the time and information needed and will go that extra mile to make there holiday magical.

You can link to her TA site from (edited by CarolAnnC) With as many times as she has been, I guess you couldn't get better information. Anyway, she also books Dude Ranches, her website said. I hope she does well. She was always quite helpful, and her information website in so detailed.

Well, this will probably disappear, but this is a best guess from looking at what happened: Barb was probably asked to take the link from her signature because it is in direct competition with the owners of this board. If she had complied, they probably would not have had to *** it out. Maybe she just decided to leave completely when they asked.

If one of us decided to advertise a competitor like allseas in our signature, I'm sure that our signature would be *** out if we did not voluntarily remove it.

Barb has not been banned and is still welcome here. As you can see she is still a moderator on the board.

As for the site, no links to commercial for profit sites are allowed at all. It has nothing to do with competing directly with Dreams--it is because it is a commercial site.

I had posted a thread asking this same question a few weeks back. The thread was deleted and I received a very polite, to the point PM from the "powers that be" (as Grumbo says ) requesting that this no longer be discussed at the request of Barb and the Webmaster, as neither of them wanted it to be discussed in public. So, I have been happy to abide to his request (well, I guess except for this post!) Heck, he runs these boards, and I like being here! I figure there is alot that goes into it, most of which they don't want to share....which up to them.

Good thing is, we know what Barb's web address is, and her email, too, even if we can't get a direct link to it here! I'll still use her site for info, as well as the DisBoards.

Did you know that the owner of these boards, the man who pays for and operates them is one in the same as the president and owner of dreamsunlimited.com?

CRB#33 I'm sure 99% of us know that Dreams sponsor this site as a promotion for their travel agency.
I think the remark was just a joke when Sue Ellen said that "no links to commercial for profit sites are allowed at all".

If Barb feels she doesn't want to talk on the subject (I'd never seen the previously mentioned thread) then lets let it drop. If she wants to return without her sig file link I'm sure she will.
