The last time I was in MK they were building the "Alien Encounter" ride. On every Disney website I look on, there is no attraction listed??? Am I crazy??
That stinks!! We saw them building it, and were looking forward to it whenever we decided to make our next trip. It came and went without me getting a chance to try it!!
Just curious.........does anyone know why they got rid of it?
Most likely to replace the characters in the ride with familiar Disney characters. The Alien Encounter ride featured fictious characters that have never made an appearance in any Disney movies or shows.
I enjoyed Alien Encounter a whole lot more than Stitchs great escape. I was sad to see it go just how I was sad to hear that Body Wars is only opened "seasonally".
From what I have read, they replaced Alien Encounter because they did not feel it was family friendly. I was on it once, it was neat, but definitely not for young or easily frightened children.
I loved Alien Encounter too. I am still hoping that Stitch permanently escapes and the alien returns. Stitch is a great character but he is not presently very charmingly on this ride. He deserves a new ride created for him.

It was a pretty scary ride and I was 17 when I rode it
Speaking of scary rides, DF took me on dinosaur this February and I almost freaked out! It's a great ride but I was not expecting it to be that "thrilling" one bit...of course i'm no scaredy-cat so I WILL be going on it again...and again
i rode alien encounter when is was at WDW the last (and first) time...i was 11 and i scared hell out of me...boy was is frightened !!
i was looking forward to ride it again when we go in summer but unfortunately its GONE
Alien Encounter was intense. I personally am scared to death of scarey movies and the like and as such this ride scare me like no other! I enjoy rollercoasters very much, and this was a very different type of experience. I know I was not alone (I could hear them screaming along side me LOL) and thats why its no longer there.
It's a shame they couldnt have worked out a deal with Universal because I think it would have fit nicer in one of those parks. I can appreciate the ride for its creative side and because of that I think its a shame it doesnt exist.
