What Grocery Store?

We are staying offsite at Windsor Hills in May. Wondering which grocery store would be best to go to. Winn Dixie or Publix. I am a big COUPONER....and am willing to organize and be prepared to bring my coupons with me.

If anyone knows general coupon policies for each store that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Can I just sign up for a Winn Dixie card when I go in and get it right then to use? Does either store double coupons? Do they ahve their own store coupons? Do they take competitors coupons and if so which ones?

I would also love to know which is cheaper to purchase diapers or should I just get them at Walmart?

Thanks for any info I can get.

Publix generally has a coupon book with the weekly ad as you walk into the store.

They do A LOT of b1g1 free each week. You can check out iheartpublix.com for sneak peaks at the upcoming weekly ads. The week starts on Thursday.

No store double coupons, but you can stack as many as you want, publix, manufacturer, and sunday's clipping.

I'm not a fan of shopping at Winn Dixie, their fresh section just doesn't cut it up to par with Publix. So I can't really tell you how they compare on prices for boxed stuff. But their weekly ad doesn't have much good in it to draw me into the store. And yes, they'll give you a card at check out if you don't have one. Publix doesn't do any cards, besides one for Upromise.

Publix usually has like 3$ off coupons for diapers in the weekly ad. I never pay attention to the prices... but I do see that coupon a lot.

If Publix there is anything like Publix here, it is worth the 5 cents you may save goig elsewhere to shop there. Last time I checked prices, I would have saved overall by just shopping Publix. They are friendly, helpful, CLEAN, and the produce is very good quality. When I read about helpful Disney CM's, I think of the employees at Publix.

Thanks.....

Anyone wanna chime in on their experience...anyone who has experience shopping at a cetain publix near Disney??

Publix. any Publix. Clean, neat and fresh
Much cheaper than WD
At WD you need their little card and while certain things may be cheaper with the card, things that are not on sale are much higher than at Publix.
Publix is much nicer.
http://www.publix.com/ and enter in Orlando Florida in the "save here" ad section and you can see what's on sale for a week.
Lots of B1G1 at Publix these days.
No one in central Florida doubles coupons.
Our Publix will not take an internet coupon over 5.00

I don't think I would be super concerned with price comparing and bargain shopping while on vacation. Make a meal plan for the length of your trip which then if you are in store and see that asparagus is on sale and you planned for green beans then make the substitution. We always spend more when we don't have a plan of attack

If you want to coupon start saving up coupons for the convenience items and prepackaged foods that you don't normally allow the kids to have at home.

I also find that the more people who are shopping with me has a direct effect on the total on the receipt since more people are making impulse purchases. Send the kids and DH to the pool while you do the shopping.

The publix at 192 and international dr s is about one of the nicer ones near disney property. It's just across the street from old town.
The publix out by the prime outlet mall on vineland and international dr is bit bigger.
I'm just not a fan of the one on 535/192... nothing really wrong with the store. Maybe it's just the way to get in and out of it bugs me (stop lights, u-turns all that fun stuff)...

Hope this helps. All the blue lines are easy roads in and out of Disney.

Thank you and SUPER jealous of the both of you who are SOOOO CLOSE to WDW...is it sad that I am seriously considering moving from mass? Although I could only do it if my mom would move as well...her and I are sooo close...

But seriously the cost of living up here is outrageous...but I am sure it all evens out....DH works for a company that he could easily transfer to right in Orlando..

Cost of living anywhere seems to be a shocker.:scared1:.I would have the perfect life here if I had the job I had in NY we moved here BAM! Recession, I haven't had a job since last Aug.:sad1:..I have an AP and used it more traveling from NY My days are spent applying for jobs and popping in here for the friendship & not to lose my mind. If your DH can transfer, prices are right for a house I assure you ..good luck I hope your Mom reconsiders

My aunt is relocating back to Florida. And we're in the process of looking for a house. Sure you can spend like 200,000 on a house... but there's a ton of houses even 4 bedrooms for around a 100,000 in good areas.

We also don't have any state taxes. Mainly cause there's crazy taxes on the tourist, like the 17% hotel tax. Sales tax is only like 7% or something. As long as you can keep your current income, you'd feel like a millionaire. But if you have to take a pay decrease cause the cost of living here is cheaper, you'd be out of luck and in the same boat.

You're welcome Luvchefmic.

Sorry... I totally forgot to mention your post when I got caught up in the response to the other post. And well I'm not one for quoting either. I'm glad I could be of some help.

Just an FYI-esp since you didnt mention it=Florida also has incredibally HIGH property taxes and through the roof Home Insurance (due to all the recent years of Hurricanes)-in fact many Insurance companies have recently LEFT florida-leaving their homeowners scrabbling to find coverage. So while it seems the housing is reasonable-you have to add $$$$ per month of those costs

I don't think that's a blanket statement that holds true...depends on soo many variables, type of house, amount of land, county you live in, etc etc
we live in the "boonies" which I LOVE & looked for before buying. We have a double-wide (some people may not want this) but 4bdrm 2bath over 2300 sq ft and just over 2 acres...home is 5 yrs old no HOA insurance approx 1200 yr property taxes about the same

Though it never gets much mention on these boards, the two SuperTargets near WDW make for some good shopping, too!
