I am fairly new to this Disney thing and am planning our first trip to Disney for our family. I will be traveling with my DH (never been to disney), DD (almost 8), and DS (almost 6). :cool1: I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the thread and need to know. Can anyone direct me to the right place or answer my question?

What do I absolutly HAVE to have in the the parks. I am planning on taking either a backpack or fanny pack. But I would rather not lug everything around for 5 days!!! What are the necessities??

Here is my list so far: Camera (digital), hand sanitizer, snacks, water, a bandaid or two or three, kleenex, some zip lock bags. What else do I need???

Thanks for your imput!!:cutie:

I always carry some sort of pain reliever for both adults and kids - Tylenol or Advil. I'm sure you can buy some in the parks but it is sure to be expensive and might take awhile to find. If you do have need of an item that you don't see out in the gift shops, just ask a sales clerk - they may have it behind the counter.

Sunglasses, autograph books and a big pen for the characters to sign with. Wipes for sure, they are great to wipe down the tables at the CS places since they aren't always clean, especially when they're busy. A comb or brush. My DD got her head soaked at Donald's boat by hanging her head upside down under the spout. When she came back up her hair was all standing up straight on her head and I had nothing to comb it back down with:eek:. Don't forget batteries for the camera, they run out of juice pretty fast. We did the rechargeable ones so we always had one set ready to go and then we recharged them every night. Ziplocs are great you never know when you will need to stash something in your bag that got wet and it will also come in handy if you want to take left over grapes or carrots with you after lunch.

For my DS1, DD4, and DD6 I kept:

A couple of small bags of snacks
Several Diapers
A ziplock with wipes
Table Toppers
Disposable bibs
Hand Sanitizer
Wet Wipe sanitizers
Autograph books
Pens

I kept my cell phone, room key and a $20 bill in my pants pockets.

I also carry dollar store rain ponchos, flip flops for dd's (so they can take their socks and sneakers off in wet areas) and some water.

I never leave the house w/o those little dum-dum suckers. They'll buy me 10 minutes of peace in any situation.

Other than that, I think your list and the suggestions sound great.

People, you come up with a great list! The only other things that I have on my list to put in my backpack is:
*Small towel (to wipe down stroller after a down pour or after getting wet)
*2-way radios (in case your family/party wants to split up for a while)
*Moleskin (for blisters or sore spots on your feet)

Thanks for all the suggestions I've written down several, they're great!

Dont forget the frozen bottles of water or juice boxes. They thaw out during the day and that alone will save you $20 ! haha. Sun visors or hats, playing cards or trivia cards for standing in line boredom. Glow in the dark necklaces from the dollar store. Pepto for all ages. You just never know! Cant think of anything else... patti

If you are going during a warmer time, changes of clothes. There are fountains (I'm thinking of the ones at Epcot between WS and FW) that are magnets for kids (at least mine) and they can play in them. I didn't let my DD in them in Jan. when it was chilly, but if it were hot...

Retractable Sharpies are great for autographs.

T hanks for all the great ideas. It is so nice to get the opinions of people who have been there, done that!:goodvibes

another great one is those pouches of cool-aid and crystal light that you pour directly into a bottle of water. I know water is best, but it is so plain and when the kids see all the soda and juices (for $20) they want them bad. This way you know you're giving in to the sugar, but at least it's not as bad as soda and better for the budget.

Whatever you take during the day, remember you have to carry it around all day. Minimize. :thumbsup2

Those small absorbent towels they sell at grocery & dollar stores in 2 packs... they're very absorbent (for after water rides/fountain play) and they weight next to nothing and dry supre fast. I bring a few in a gallon-size ziploc bag. I can air dry them in the sun really fast just clipping to my backpack for a little bit, or back in the ziploc bag they go. Very lightweight, and VERY handy.

Also,
-fresh pair of socks (w/ powder sprinkled in each) in ziploc bags, to refresh everyone's feet in the afternoon
-mini M&M's tube filled with alternating quarters and pennies (for pressed penny machines)
-a stock of supplies from the dollar store for evening parades & shows (glow necklaces & bracelets, blinking pins)

great lists everyone! I always see something new!

In ziplock baggies bring along extra underwear, socks, pants. Just in case the bathroom isn't reached in time. It happened to me when I was almost 10 and to my DD when she was 9 1/2.

Some of this may be posted already but here is my definitive list of stuff to bring to the park. It seems like a lot, but somehow we get it all in our backpack and then leave it stapped to the stroller. I must say we have utilized everything on this list. And there have been many times where I have been able to help out another family with stuff that we have - particularly with some of the first aid stuff and they are always so greatful and it feels good to help.

One thing I think helps a lot like the last person said is ziplock bags. Helps to organize everything... put the stuff you use the most together... plus keeps everything dry - including camera and first aid stuff.

Anyway here is my list:

Autograph Book
Fat Pen – Autographs
Waterbottle
Cash/Credit Cards
Camera
Glow Sticks/Necklace
Extra Camera Battery
Cell Phones (2)
Confirmation #’s for ADRs
Pennies/Quarters for Pressers
Moleskin
Headache Medicine
Kids Headache Medicine
Sunblock
Guide Books
Park Maps
Disposable Camera for Kids
Small Umbrellas
Snacks
Water Shoes
Hats/Visors
Face Sunblock Stick
Sunglasses w/Straps – for the kids too!
Sm Flashlight
Mister Fan – don’t forget batteries!
Chap Stick
Theme Park Passes/Tickets
Kids ID w/Photo
Rain Pancho
Ziplock Baggies
Kleenex
Anti-Bac Hand Gel
Waterproof Case
Pen Flashlight
Tag Kids w/ID Info
Extra Dry Clothes
Grocery Bag - Wet Clothes
Kids Clothing Report (If get Lost)
