Respectfully--she posted some pretty harsh words with the command that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all.

We are not a world of robots at the beck and call of those who only solicit positive opinions. We don't own the board and only a very few of us are moderators that have any power to offer advisement on proper protocol.

It didn't turn into drama--it began with drama.

There are tools to handle situations that arise--but all too often, folks forget they are there and then take it upon themselves to police other posters for being too mean.

Having a different opinion when opinions were solicited is not being mean--it's being different.

Now are some folks rude--sure, they are. But that is what the "report" button is for....to report rude or harrassing posts.


Was the OP venting? Sure.

Are folks going to disagree with the manner in which she chose to share it.....yes they are.

What right do they have to post? They have an account on this board and so long asthey folllow the rules of the board, they have every right to post what they wish in response to her lashing as much as she had the right to post what she did.

If she didn't intend drama, that is the point where she must reconsider her post and how it may come across--the very thing she has advised all of us.

I understand what you are saying. I just felt bad for her. It seemed to me like someone must have really hurt her on here. I don't know that for sure, it was an assumption. I agree that it started as a pretty abrasive post, but she ended it on a good note. I guess I just feel bad when people seem to hurt. I shouldn't have posted anything at all, because my first post on this thread was to tell her about the kind posters that helped me get thru a difficult week. Well, after that, people start posting that anyone who turned to the CB for help should not being doing that but seek professional help. I *think*
that may have been written with me in mind. Maybe it wasn't, but I feel really stupid now for sharing that I had a bad week and the only comfort i found was on here.

Are you sure they are dead, they might be ridding inside the tail of a comet. Of course that might have been another ritual suicide, it is so hard to keep them all straight.

I thought she said she only read the posts here, not that someone was mean, snarky, cruel, etc. to her. I think we would have racted differently if she had said that. Plus, the OP said she was just venting.

It would have been nice if you had been specific about specific threads, so we can address you back specifically. There are many that have offended all kinds of people here, like: Tiger Woods, Jesse James, Michael Jackson, Iceland volcanic ash. . .

If people need a certain kind of advice & guidance, they really shouldn't be coming to an Entertainment/Fantasy forum. There are plenty of religious, spiritual, professional advice/counseling, financial forums. As well as hotlines for battered women, domestic violence, suicide, religious counseling & support, etc.

While, many of us here do ask advice, support and opinions of others because we are a community, that is not the ultimate purpose. This is a Disney forum.

Hi, Pot calling the kettle black here . I did not post any related post on any subject matter for the simple fact that I did not want anyone using what I used to describe what I was talking about. I will not be the one giving ammunition to anyone to use. This thread is not to attack any particular posters, and search as much as you like but I will not engage in being apart of the very thing I was just speaking on. It takes two to tango and I'm not dancing. All I ask is that you don't go searching for a particular post and assume that I must be venting over this one or that one and such and such.

There can only be drama when we allow it and I will not be facilitating it.

To the poster that said it used to be a debate board what happened to it? Was it ended because people could not debate with out attacking the poster instead of the issue? or was it because there was no participation?


If it were possible, could we be bring it back? or is it something that was taken away to preserve the nature of the board? I used to be on the debate team in school, and I loved it

Thank you for saying that..and for the record (time to share more private stuff with the world!) I have been regularly seeing someone, but this week, I was overwhelmed. And I actually NEVER intended to cry on the CB's shoulder. I had just made a decision to leave my job due to stress and I had no intention of posting about it. But then someone posted that they had decided to leave their job too, with no job lined up...and I guess I just thought..whew, here is someone going thru something similar and so I posted about it. And I couldn't stop writing. It was really stupid, I just had no one to talk to and it felt good to write it all down. And everyone was so nice to me.

I remember the creepy leader. Doe? Is that right? IDK. And something about rolls of quarters? Wow. I need to go google because I need to know what the deal with the quarters was.

Just started looking and OMG, they have a website!!! http://www.heavensgate.com/ and it looks like its real. Not a parody, in other words. WOW. Maybe they have something about the quarters. Oh, and maybe they have a CB I can join!

I don't really care what SMH is. If you post on a public board, get ready to accept whatever the heck anyone else writes. You may not like it, but if someone was were silly enough to NOT put on their bullet-proof vest when they wrote asking for whatever, then they need to get off the internet boards.

Some of the stuff that gets posted on here is absolutely stupid.

Part of me agrees, part of me thinks this is a bunch of bull.
I haven't read all the replies but I've been here long enough to know what everyone has said. Since the Great Banning there are people who have been saying things that have been left unchecked, since anyone who would have called them on it have been banned. These people have been left to run rampant, unafraid that Public Sentiment would call them on their self-righteous opinions. I see this in high school: It's called mob rules. And yes, you now have to put on a bullet proof vest just to post here. I am fully aware that this post may get me banned. Just this silly, self-opinionated post.
But the educated part of me knows that this is a public forum and that anything here is up for grabs. If you have an opinion then you can reply. However I would temper this with the thought that as humans we need to be kind to one another. That someone coming here for help or a shoulder to lean on may need some kind words, not words of condemnation or judgment.

It is Do, apparently that's what his followers called him (he's on the comet now in a UFO so I don't know what they call him currently as I'm not there). You can get free copies of their videotapes "Last Chance to Evacuate Earth Before It's Recycled" sent to you from their website .
