If they didn't we wouldn't go, that simple. I go to an amusement park near our place too, its $25/ticket. The lines are generally small, but can get longer during peak season. Of course, for $60 you can skip all the lines all day.

I don't pay Thousands and thousands of dollars to go to Disney to stand in line. Sure there are lots of other things Disney offers which are also attractive, but if you took away the rides, we wouldn't go, and if you make us stand in line for 45mins+ for every ride, you might as well get rid of them, we have no interest in that.

That makes no sense to me. Lines are a part of life and while I'd rather stand in a minimal one than a long one, I wouldn't let lines affect my enjoyment.

Hmmm, maybe Disney should get rid of FP all together. It's getting ridiculous now, if someone doesn't have pixie dust every five minutes, the trip is a failure. How do some people cope with real life?

I think they "could" be gone as early as Dec. The system will be live resort wide. I think it's working better for Dec than people think. I had absolutely no problems with everything for our Dec. 12th-24th trip. I'm not 100% convinced off site guest will be accessing FP+ anytime soon. They don't need to remove the machines to shut them off, there's no planning required there. I'm not in the know, just my educated speculation. It's honestly long overdue that WDW starting treating their onsite guests better than the offsite ones.

There are few booking problems, it is use problems.

I don't see WDW locking out off site guests. Especially since they have already publicly stated this system is for everyone. Just my opinion though. And AP holders are often off site guests and I know they aren't being locked out as I'm an AP holder who isn't staying on site and I can use the system as I wish within the 60day windows of availability.

I doubt that they would want to make a visit to the park more difficult for any offsite guests in fact. It would be downright mean to take away a benefit that people are used to and yet still charge a fortune for meals and tickets and so on. As someone said the other day, a lot of people likely go to WDW to do more than ride a few rides and then wander the rest of the time.

From what i'm hearing the AP holders are the ones raising the most stink over Magic Bands and FP+. CMs say they are the hardest people to deal with.

Oh and the only reason they are double dipping right now is cause they are only getting 3 choices a day for one park. And they usually get more. So in reality it's not much more different. IMHO

This is a very very good point. In all of my countless trips to WDW and DL, we have never only gotten 3 or 4 FP each day. We always end up getting at least 5 or 6, and at more than one park.

It's not really about what I want, I just think it would be smart business for WDW. I think they will somehow manipulate FP+ to help fill their resorts. They would be silly not too. What exactly they do with it we'll see I guess.

I'm undecided on this new system. I agree with just about everything OP said. I'd be interested to see what it's like once people are no longer able to "triple dip".

I'm a mega planner but DBF is not; he hates the fact that we have to plan meals in advance so I know he will hate this. Luckily we go during slow times pretty often (it seems that Disney's slow seasons match up well with slow times at our own jobs) and last trip we didn't even need Fastpasses more than once. OP, I don't know how possible it is for you to change the time of year that you visit but that's my suggestion. I went mid September and most standby lines were 30 mins or less.

FP+ story:

Staying offsite, got to Epcot at rope drop, was one of first 100 or so to get to Test Track - FP time was 6:15 pm. I was one of first to get paper FP and it was for 9 hours later.

Same story for Toy Story at DHS on Saturday.

This is what terrifies me. We are planning to go in a week and a half. We are staying offsite mainly due to the fact that we are on a shoe string budget. My wife isn't looking forward to running the 40 yard dash hoping to get a FP for a headliner. Sounds like we will be lucky to ride a headliner once in a day. This talk about unexpected larger crowds has me worried too. I've spent the last couple of months ensuring her that this is one of the slowest times of the year. I hope I don't have to eat crow. Things sure have changed since Oct. 2000. Back then we were fast passing everything and the crowds were small. I'll just stick to Easy WDW's recommendations and hope for the best. I'm not looking forward to standing in 90 min. lines. I've got a bad feeling about this.

The system is new and we will have to see how it works. I won't know until we go in May, then I can express a honest review of the system.

~Finally, a breakthrough from you!!! Good -- remove this wall and really start to reflect and embrace what you love about Disney. Trust me, it's liberating to release the stress and disappointment and get excited about something!

~I wanted something like "The Year of a Million Dreams" or some huge themed celebration every other year! But, no we have "Limited Time Magic," this sux! I totally had to adjust my expectations, now I don't expect any campaign.

~I loved the initial roll out of the dining plan that included appetizer, entree, dessert and drink and all taxes and gratuity -- with full menus. We did not order all of this food at one sitting as it was way too much to consume, but what we loved was the "options." Anyway, free dining was announced and a couple of years later all of the flexibility and perks were gone. And, then Disney drastically changed the menus and the kids menus were all homogenized to chicken nuggets and grapes. I was so disappointed during that time. Again, another adjustment in my expectations had to be made. Disney dining is no longer the priority it once was -- eat to live not live to eat, lol.

~Concierge -- omg, they got rid of the free bottled water. We would always head straight to the lounge for an ice cold bottled water -- for immediate consumption not to hoard bottles in our room. Again, I had to adjust my expectations.

~Reduced EMH and monorail issues, fluctuates up and down. Pure luck of the draw. The consistency that we use to love and depend on is just random.

~We hate driving and we do like Disney transportation, so no need to rent a car. I *love* Magical Express which eliminates the trip to baggage claim, and dealing with skycaps and chauffeurs. It's especially nice not having to handle all that luggage. Also, the kids just love riding on Mickey's bus.

~It took us three vacations to finally see Fantasmic! That's right, two years of waiting for hours and doing the wave half the damn night, only for the show to be cancelled at the last minute due to technical difficulties and possible lightning. Also, it took two vacations to finally see MSEP.

~I won't even get started on rides being down, it's hit or miss. One year, it seemed like every ride was offline. We had to double back to so many rides that year.

~I don't claim to know "more" than everyone. I just know what I like and my decisions are well informed decisions. There was one year, I was so mad at Disney and planned trips to Hawaii, New York, and Atlantis instead -- all were fabulous but we were nickel and dimed for every cent and by day three of each trip, we were glad to depart. And, I still ended up booking a last minute Disney vacation that year, anyway.

~So, even though the quality has "diminished" we still find value overall at Disney, especially in contrast to other vacation destinations. Disney World is that place we all love and enjoy.

It won't be two years. It could be as early as December. This system is live in December not testing. I don't have a release to quote but I'm fully expecting the legacy FP system will be gone in Dec.

This is what I'm saying. Acting like every line will now be 45 minutes and that it's not fair for thousands of dollars. Well not al lines are that long and they are only like that during peak. And personally I'd rather be in Disney and wait a little longer than not be in disney at all. If other people feel differently about it there's only one solution. Me? I'm fine with less crowded parks and if all these people who say they aren't going don't go well ... Like I said I like less crowded parks

So to the PP no one cares if you don't go get over yourself.

onsite should get some perks, but not completely cut off the day guest or Florida residents chance of now being handicapped everyday they want to go to the park.
