Ive seen in peoples trip reports that there is a hotel at Gatwick which has brilliant views of the runway but I can't remember the name of it. :confused3

Does anyone know which one this is?

Hilton is connected to the South Terminal, so is more convenient if you are flying with Virgin Atlantic. However, Sofitel isn't exactly an inconvenience, since the monorail links the two terminals together anyway.

Anyone know where I can get really good rates for the Sofitel - I really want to stay here in July but have to justify the cost

Thanks

We have stayed at the Hilton three times in family rooms and can't fault the convenience of being able to walk into the south terminal.

We used ABC Holiday Extras to get room+15 day parking deals.

Our rooms had very little view of the runway - just the multi-story car park between the hotel and the terminal :)

The Sofitel is about £100 per room and far, far nicer than the Hilton. It's 2 mins fro the South Terminal on the shuttle train.

We are flying BA so from the North terminal - which site do you use for £100 per room rate - I canot find anything like that :)

We have been to both the Sofitel and the Hilton and you can try the price comparison websites for prices for car parking and a nights stay.

We are staying at the Hilton Gatwick next week when we go to Spain.

Hope you enjoy your stay

We've stayed at the Sofitel both times we went to WDW. We booked through Holiday Extras one time and FHR another ~ I just checked all the airport hotel sites and booked with whoever was the cheapest ~ although I think we paid around £180 or £190 last year but that was for a family room as there's 5 of us.

It's a lovely hotel and both times we've had a room with a view into the atrium.

Thanks Elaine - will check it out :)

I've always found that the best rate for any of the accor brands (Sofitel is one of them) can be found on their website. www.accor.com you can sign up on the site for special offers. I've just got 1 night at the Ibis at Gatwick for £45 in May!

Hope you find the offer you want.

Thanks - I just found a room for £105 for 2 adults but when I change it to 2 adults and 2 kids (who on the website says kids stay free) goes up to £195.

Will have to do a bit of investigating - £105 is a great price :goodvibes

If you are planning to have breakfast, it can be cheaper booking through the British Airways website, as their Sofitel rates include breakfast (usually £17 each). As there are 3 of us in the room (including DD8), breakfast alone would be over £50. We paid £160 for the room with BA last year, and the cheapest ACCOR rate was £129 I think, and doesn't include tax.

I know I know I know - we could have eaten in the airport far more cheaply, but it has become a bit of a pre-holiday ritual that DD loves!
